Class Prophecy When I first learned that I had to wrrte the class prophecy I was defrnrtely drsmayed for to make one rnterestrng the foretellrng mut be drfferent I went home openly drsgusted rth the burden lard up on my shoulders Srttrng tryrng to thunk ot somethrng to happen to people rs drffrcult and even more so when ones srster rs deepy en grossed rn the trrals ot The Lone Ranger I soon acqurred a splrt trng headache and adlourned to the medrcrne cabrnet to take an as prrrn In my mental drsturbance my hand chanced to stray to a box of sleeprng tablets Instead of the asprrrn I took two and rmmedrate ly as I relaxed on the couch I fell deep rn slumber The followrng nrghtmare ensued For varrous reasons I had the Senrors of 48 ended up after ten years rn the lower walks of lute When Cletus after she marrred traveled wrth her husband all over the Unrted States rn pursurt of her husband s work she never dreamed that she mrght come across her old classmates They had all gone to drtferent parts of the country for they were anxrous to be away from Ye Olde Home Town for a whrle Clete and her better half lrved rn a swank New York Apartment on upper Frfth Avenue She greeted her husband affectronately when he came home from work each nrght but tonrght he was especrally ax cated for he bore news that they were to start on a tour of the U S for hrs companys benefrt They packed therr clothes and many other necessrtres took the four chrldren all boys to Aunt Joys home on lower Manhattan Island They then called a cab for the trrp to the Grand Central As the duet entered the cab Clete thought the cabby looked famrlrar but the drawn faced hollow eyed man showed no srgns of latrvely through the rear vrew mrrror As therr eyes met they srmul taneously crred out Cletus Denton' and Why Galen Sloan' After many exclamatrons of surprrse and pleasure Gale started tell rng hrs troubles It seems hrs wrfe Guess Who7 was certarnly a henpecker and hrs cryrng bawlrng chrldren wouldnt let hrm sleep rf and when he got the chance They finally reached the statron and bade farewell to sorrowrng Galen and were at last on therr way to therr tirst stop Cleveland Ohro As the parr stepped off the trarn they heard ott to the rrght of the statron platform a small weak vorce callmg Pencrls pencrls nrcker pencrls Automatrcally therr heads turned toward the vorce and srghted a short ragged lookrng creature degectedly holdrng colored pencrls rn hrs hand It was easy for Clete to recognue another class mate blonde Jack Krngman They presented hum a consrdarabla amount of money reprrmandlngs and wrshes of good luck rn the fu ture Wrth that they left hrm After trnrshrng therr busrness the two left on the tram tor Chrcago After restrng and feeling the need for some recreation they went to the ball park to see the Chrcago Cubs battle the Cleveland Indrans They notrced a great deal of actrvrty around the Cubs dugout One fellow was scurryrng around carryrng bats At first the thought he mrght be the famous batter Peanuts Lowry who was very careful to prck hrs bats On closer scrutrny we beheld the person to be only an energetrc bat boy Stull closer rnspectron drsclosed to them that the boy was Duane Baer who was a baseball enthusrast rn hrs hrgh school days but has enthusrasm was rather shortlrved and he had tc resort to berng bat boy Twclre After they had frnrshed therr busrness rn Chrcago they boarded the Rocket for Des Mornes whrch was near therr home towns Thev wrshed to celebrate whrch kept them out rather late or early rn th mornrng As they neared the Fort Des Mornes Hotel they notrced two men lazrly cleanrng up the streets wrth brooms As they came closer Clete recognrzed one of them as another old classmate Jerry Wrrght who had never gone any farther away from hrs home than Des Mornes They conversed for awhrle and then parted wrth the hope that they mrght see each other agarn whrch was very rnevrtable They frnrshed the transactrons rn Des Mornes plus numerous vrsrts and agarn started on therr rourney The next stop was St Lours Mrssourr They decrded to combrne busrness wrth pleasure and took a clrent to a burlesque Lo and behold who should be the star of the show but Darsy Wrlson Only for certarn unaccountable reason she was known as the Gypsy Rose Lee of Iowa It was evr ent that Darsy strll retarned her grrlrsh hugh school frgure They were det rnrtely shocked at the career Mrss Wrlson had chosen for herself and left the show wrth undue haste The next stop was San Antonro Texas They decrded to patronrzr, the dude ranch the Crrcle A Many professronal gamblers frequented the ranch for numerous wealthy people were always vacatronrng there They watched an excrtrng poker game whrch Included the famous card shark Jack Slaughter who received hrs trarnrng by playlng Penny Ante rn the local tavern rn hrs old home town The next stop was Salt Lake Clty Utah They were rnvrted to the huge Great Salt Lake bathing resort and there they drscovered Jeanne Beckel sellrng red hot dogs rn a small canopred stand She was cer tarnly excrted about all the moola she had taken rn plus seerng and talkrng wrth many young handsome Calrfornras who chanced to come to thrs resort One rn partrcular The next stop was Reno Nevada In one of the numerous nrght spots the couple ran across Joan Werser who rn a tearful eprthet related that she was there to drvorce her tenth husband One could easrly see that she had been very aggres srve as soon as she completed hrgh school The next crty rn lrne was San Francrsco They traveled by tram drrectly to the coast and came Into the old crty by way of boat A they docked and stepped off the gang plank Clete notrced a gran brllboard prcturrng the small but strll dazzling shaped form of Patsy denotrng that she was the Sweetheart of the U S S Fred T Berry Only her name was not Oyres anymore She was the wrfe of the can tam of the shrp who had rrsen rn rank from a mere Frremarr second class rn ten years After completrng therr busrness rn San Francrsco they boarded a boat and landed rn Los Angeles On therr first opportunrty they ven tured rnto Hollywood On the famed cross sectvons of Hollywood lr Vrne they were much drstracted by the wo ves They heard one es pecrally loud whrstle automatrcally turned and there was another old classmate Jane Savage whrstlrng at Cletes hubby Jane In ten years had not lost her Baby face and strll looked as young and rnno cent as ever Evrdently Clete s husband strll looked rather young also They talked together for awhrle but soon parted wrth a word of advrc whrch naturally was rgnored by Jane After the transactrons were completed the two flew drrectly to New York and were reunrted wrth therr boys lmmedrately I woke and pondered rf perhaps thrs nrghtmare mrght
