Senior Class Prophecy Who could say that there were no signs of success in the hearts and minds of those 1956 Seniors of good oie Grifton High? While preparing for my vacation I decided to look up some of my old classmates. I am, incidently, Marlene Dudley, now teaching commercial courses in New Orleans, Louisiana. I thought that one day I would travel back to Grifton. As I stopped by the big West- inghouse Plant in Raleigh I found that Charles Dail is owner. Joyce Koon is leading the staff forward as executive secretary. After having my hair set by a beautician, Bette McCotter, who has introduced one of the most famous hair-styles in America, I decided to stop by the school. Much to my amazement, Herbert Purser is principal. Billy Cox is hired for the next school term as a teacher of Mathematics. The all famous coach of the Grifton Bulldogs is none other than Jimmy Burbage who has all wins and no losses. Good work! Did you know that Mrs. Bunch is still saying Get quiet, children? Among those in the medical field at Grifton is Fred Taylor, leading pharmacist, who has discovered a leading patent medicine. Gathered in the drug store were Lawrence Causey, President of the Agriculture Association and Kenneth Garris, who is a vocational agriculture teacher. Visiting some relatives in CAMP LEJEUNE I saw Lieutenant Alfred Boswell convers- ing with Lonnie, now a jet pilot. Of course, I drove out to the country. Frances Cannon is happily married and Jean Stokes has quit her job to become a housekeeper, also. Nell Jackson is employed in her husband ' s business firm, Jackson ' s Merchandise. Good luck, girls! My! My! What beautiful nurses, Dawn Smith, Joyce Batchelor, and Alice Cannon — Will the patients ever get over this? They are the best! Members of the Dupont Staff are: Linwood Branch, foreman; Eugene Garris; and Carroll Grey, who is traveling around demonstrating Dupont products. Bob McCotter is drawing the blueprints to enlarge the plant. (Bob, keep your mind on your work). Hearing that Pat Stokes has entered a field in religious education is wonderful. Will she always be the same girl? It is with regret that Uncle Sam summoned Earl Braxton, Robert Reaves, Harvey Harris and Alton Stancill, especially Alton, who hated to part with his Ford. and now in 1966, as I look over these past ten years, I marvel at the success and happiness of these Seniors of 1956.
