THE CLASS OF 1953 PROPHECY Just for a minute let us pretend that we can see ten years in the future. Anyday now you may sit back and turn on your radio and hear the now famous comedian Rufus Craft. All you people who violate traffic rules will be chased by Patrolman Will Rod- gers Harris. If you try to dodge him you had better leave the country for Detective Jesse Stancill will be tailing you. Those of you who are always unlucky and get caught anyway will want to hire Lawyer Kenneth Branch to handle your case. What is that magnificent building I see on the outskirts of town? Why it ' s the new Grifton Hospital! There we see Hilda Buck, who is the head nurse. Two of her assistants are Clarice Edwards and Hilda Jones. While I was in town today I decided to visit the school. Two of the outstanding faculty members are J.R. Hooten and John R. Lewis. John is teaching agriculture and believe me he still raises some handsome hogs. J.R. came by and invited me over to the gym to watch the basketball boys work out. He is coaching the best team in Pitt County, and is headed for the County Championship. I also ran into Clyde Adams, who is a Senator. I didn ' t have much time to talk to him, because he had to get back to Washington for one of those swanky parties. He re is a bit of information concerning the Navy I would like to pass on to you. Jack Miller is now an Admiral, and Mattie Jones is doing a fine job as a Navy Nurse. You people who travel by air might try the Pan American Airlines. There you will receive the superb service of one of their smiling stewardesses, Jean Daugher- ty- All of the girls who are planning to enter college and like to eat, I suggest you go to W.C., for I hear the food there is out of this world . This is made possible by Peggy Abbott, Dietician. I was in New York last and I ran into Shirley Spikes. She is Power ' s highest paid Model. I also saw Mary Dawson ' s name in flashing bright lights on a Broad- way Theater. She is starring in Romeo and Juliet for its five hundredth per- formance . The next time you plan to travel, write to the San Francisco Traveling Agency for information concerning the next world tour conducted by Louise Corey. Louise Cannon is as busy as a bee in her secretarial work at Grifton ' s Dupont Plant. The local high school has grown so much that the principal needs a full time secretary. Joyce Cannon is doing that job well. Beulah Burroughs is busy restoring China as part of her task as a Christian Mis sionary . Mrs. Jesse Jackson, formerly Norine Snell, is busy keeping house for her hus- band and three sweet children. Gilbert Whaley is also busy keeping the home fires burning. He is the owner and manager of several farms. He and his wife are happily bringing up their children. Gay Dixon absolutely refuses to work so she is still enjoying her eternal vacation.
