Y. ‘Dedicatio tt To show our appreciation and gratitude for his unselfish work with our class, we the graduates of 1956, are proud to dedicate this yearbook to Mr. Robert Ghent. He has well earned this honor for he has contributed his time and energies to all our endeavors. 3 We, the high school students of Griffith Insti- tute give a great deal of credit to our Personnel, who through their tireless efforts help us, day by day, year by year, to ascend to higher heights. We, potential leaders of tomorrow, are ably ad- vised, willingly guided and competently counseled by those who have only our interests at heart. To those who prepare our lunch, bring us to school safely, and keep our school in excellent condition, we are grateful. To those who prepare us to meet the problems of future life in science, math, lan- guages, athletics, history, literature, and the arts, go our heartfelt thanks. They all plan toward the future, making the im- possible, possible; the probable, actual. Office. Staff ZRu Shiva . Mrs. MacDonald, Mrs. Haynes. Kneeling: Mr. Schue, Mr. Schroeder. We have been well provided with the neces- sary tools to accept this role. Whether we enter into active business life, continue our education or be- come homemakers is not important. That we be- come useful citizens is the hope of our teachers and parents. Leaving school and perhaps our homes has now become a reality, but one which we can face with confidence. It is on the shoulders of the underclass- men that the responsibilities of leadership will fall. This holds true not only in school but ultimately, in the community as well. It is, therefore, a serious challenge to all under- classmen to prepare themselves for their future roles. From the ranks of today’s underclasses will come the senior leaders in scholarship, athletics and citizen- ship. XCWMZI 5 hoch- JunioxA Row 1: H. Butzer, J. Crow, C. Flora, D. Brauen, D. Blair, D. We would also miss many of the enriching elements and satisfactions of meeting together in relaxed social situations. Ac- tivities at Griffith Institute provide opportunity to achieve these dual aims. The combining of school and worthwhile social activities help us in becom- ing responsible citizens. 9kmdr3$%a Section Row 1: A. Drake, S. Sterns, J. Poe, L. Schlade. R. Walker, Row 3: R. Solem, T. Teamwork means an almost in- vincible group, skill means victory, competition cre- ates a yearning for betterment. Winning, losing, tying are not important. Building healthy bodies and good minds, learning good sportsmanship, are more desirable ends. To these principles, the athletes of Griffith Institute are dedicated. VxvL ity, Row 1: I. Pringle, W.
