In the SOCIAL STUDIES department, World History, United States History, Government, and Economics are taught. Mr. Beck, Mr. Stanczak, and Mr. Bunce are the instructors. Mr. Stanczak is shown lecturing to his Government class. The ENGLISH and FOREIGN LANGUAGE departments are extensive. Mrs. Blum, Miss Ellspermann, and Mr. Burnett teach many sub- jects, including four semesters of grammar, four semesters of literature, one semester of Senior Composition, two years of French, two years of Latin, and one year of Speech. Mrs. Blum translates a French Christmas Carol for her French 11 Class. Mrs. Fa u Ike n b ur g and Mr. Fiscus teach MATHEMATICS. Offerings are: Algebra, Advanced Algebra, Plane Geometry, Solid Geometry, Trigonometry, and General Mathe- matics. The solution of a geometric problem is being proved by Mrs. Faulkenburg. The SCIENCE department is equipped with new desks and laboratory equipment. Mr. Fis- cus, Mr. Evrard, and Mr. Bunce teach the science classes, such as: Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. The Wimshurst or electro-static machine is being demonstrated by Kay O ' Rourke.

STUDY HALL (Period 3), MRS. COOK The study hall has a seating capacity of 135. In the rear of the study hall is the library which contains over 4,000 volumes, classified under the Dewey Decimal System. One hundred dollars per year is spent on subscriptions to current magazines. The library con- tains four sets of encyclopedias, a vertical file service, Readers ' Guide, pamphlets, career monograms, and college catalogue. The BUSINESS EDUCATION subjects are tau ght by Mrs. Pease, Mr. Reed, Mr. Bunce.and Mr. Sanders. Subjects included in the business field are: Typing, Shorthand, Bookkeeping, Clerical Procedure, Business Law, and Sales- manship. The photograph shows a group of students in one of the typing classes. The sewing department, one of the HOME ECONOMICS subjects taught, is supplied with 18newsewing machines, a full-length mirror, and a special fitting room. Three semesters of sewing and one semester of Home Management are taught by Mrs. Cook. Six new kitchens, complete with stove, sink and extensive cabinet space, are the focal points of the cooking department of HOME ECONOM- ICS. Two chrome tables, each with four matching c h a i rs , complete this room. Miss Beanblossom teaches the foods work. The ARTS AND CRAFTS department offers subjects to fill any need or ability. Courses offered are: Sketching, Clothes Designing Metal Enamel Work, Ceramics, Weaving, and Block Printing. Many other phases of art are taught by Mr. Wilson.
