STUDY HALL (Period 3), MRS. COOK The study hall has a seating capacity of 135. In the rear of the study hall is the library which contains over 4,000 volumes, classified under the Dewey Decimal System. One hundred dollars per year is spent on subscriptions to current magazines. The library con- tains four sets of encyclopedias, a vertical file service, Readers ' Guide, pamphlets, career monograms, and college catalogue. In the SOCIAL STUDIES department, World History, United States History, Government, and Economics are taught. Mr. Beck, Mr. Stanczak, and Mr. Bunce are the instructors. Mr. Stanczak is shown lecturing to his Government class. The ENGLISH and FOREIGN LANGUAGE departments are extensive. Mrs. Blum, Miss Ellspermann, and Mr. Burnett teach many sub- jects, including four semesters of grammar, four semesters of literature, one semester of Senior Composition, two years of French, two years of Latin, and one year of Speech. Mrs. Blum translates a French Christmas Carol for her French 11 Class. Mrs. Fa u Ike n b ur g and Mr. Fiscus teach MATHEMATICS. Offerings are: Algebra, Advanced Algebra, Plane Geometry, Solid Geometry, Trigonometry, and General Mathe- matics. The solution of a geometric problem is being proved by Mrs. Faulkenburg. The SCIENCE department is equipped with new desks and laboratory equipment. Mr. Fis- cus, Mr. Evrard, and Mr. Bunce teach the science classes, such as: Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. The Wimshurst or electro-static machine is being demonstrated by Kay O ' Rourke.
