I DEDICATION Since communities are the nuclei of our national life, we dedicate this book to all communities in general, but to Griffith and Highland in particular, where the spirit of team work between the school and all elements of the community pre- vails. Work has already begun toward a better nation in which to live and, eventually, a better world when such unity exists. When reading this we know you ' ll think of the days that have gone by. The days we ' ve spent, in great content, at our own Griffith high. Spitz is head of Prudential; he ' s gone to the top; Lucy designs gowns for a swank Paris Shop. Hart stars in the Big Top on the flying trapeze, While Arietta and spouse grow tomatoes and peas. Royce plays a hot trumpet in Gary Blink ' s band; Hats from Betty Black ' s Shoppe are much in demand. Charles Vestal is president of the E.J. and E.; Attorney Thrailkill will defend you for a big fee. Morgan leads a safari in the jungle for game; Mekie ' s paintings have brought her fortune and fame. Nancy Scott ' s the young matron whose dinners are news, And Dorothy Dunn ' s known as the Queen of the Blues. Phillip ' s junk yards have brought him not leisure but wealth; It ' s the thing to see dear Doctor Hedges for health. Bob Hope lost his job. but Welsh took his place; Folks flock to Hollywood to see Leanor ' s face. On a six o ' clock program Eleanor brings Women ' s Views; Bach sits in an office and collects union dues. Charles Butts is the Olympic champion of the year; In a long distance running he ' s fleet as a deer. Milam is now dean of girls at old Griffith High; Verdonne ' s married and boasts of her lemon cream pie. Govert owns a dude ranch way out in the West; Crowe, Ohio State ' s Coach, is doing his best. While Jane Ann at Vassar as teacher has tarried. Till George earns enough money so they can be married. A model in Paris is our own Roberta Brill, While Fred Braam as a doctor can cure your every ill. Price now runs a beauty shop with customers galore; Irene Keen has married and now runs her own drugstore. Sweeney is a psychologist with ponderous thoughts indeed, And Matz as jockey has won honor on his steed. Sieb works in a store, chopping, chopping up the meat. While Leo as a racer, why, he just can ' t be beat. Kovecsi in the opera now sings. As Stammis in the puppet show, is pulling all the strings. Celmer ' s plus on Broadway is a money winning smash, But Cechovic has lost every penny in a big stock market crash. Mang is a barber, cutting lots of hair; Leonard is a barker in a big time country fair. Koedyker is a plumber now, fixing all the pipes, But Greene in a complaint department hears nothing but the gripes. Justak is a decorator, making houses fair. While for making lovely gowns little Rosy has a flair. Grimm is now traveling with her hubby way down South, While Komanich is in politics, shooting off her mouth. For playing on a tuba. Mason ' s fame has spread, While Gatlin is a huge success at baking hubby ' s bread. Carlson now is married and owns a farm very large. But Grogg’s in the Army where he has to lead the charge. Winebrenner is a matron in a brand new ladies ' jail. While Walker makes her perfume and sells it by the pail. 68 Lorraine’s new book made the critics shout with glee; Walters is a teacher now, teaching history, Carolyn’s in the poorhouse, one dress to her name. While Mary Ann’s grains have brought her both fortune and fame. A bookie is Barnett, his job’s placing bets. While Holmes has a job making ladies ' hair nets. Murray is a detective, the enemy of crime, And Burgess still thinks he can stop right on a dime. Parsons sells vitamin pills all day long. Trying to convince Sabina they’ll make him strong. Greenwell is in Grand Opera trying to sing. While Letty is still waiting for her wedding ring. Curtis is the owner of the famous New York Times,” While Fish is a critic, cutting author’s rhymes. A star is Massa excelling in sports. And Hook ' s new invention is for removing warts. Hook ' s now dead, and buried in his books, And Moyer is still trying to get by on her looks. Leota Wilson ' s now playing at Carnegie Hall, While Freeman gives lessons on how to grow tall. Alek is a teacher at Griffith High, While Todd flies airplanes way up in the sky. Alters is in the Alps; training St. Bernards is her job, While Hyde’s new hair style has gone for a boa. Sucich is now president of the United States, While Nissen ' s made millions raising California dates. Andres is on Broadway, the nit ot every show. While Schultz as her partner gets rid of her dough, Shary is the lovelorn for the Chicago Daily News;” The last we heard of Davison, she had lit the wrong fuse. Serena’s at the Town Hall; she replaced her dad, While Schmidt as a driver, drives people mad. Ellis is a nurse; her record is great, While Whitacre and Thiel give lessons on how to bake. The prophecy is now complete; it may not all come true. But from Lewis, Ryckman and Vanzo, its’ the best that we could do. 69 SNAPS 70 ADS SPITZ MILLER COFFEE CUP Lake County’s Oldest Insurance Agency Main Street — Griffith GRIFFITH DEPARTMENT STORE Compliments of Broad St. - Griffith CHRISTENSON’S S L CLOTHING GARY NATIONAL BANK 136 Broad St. - Griffith Griffith Branch STRACK’S CERTIFIED SUPER MARKET NEW LOOK BEAUTY SHOP Broad St. — Griffith Griffith — Phone 1610 BEN FRANKLIN STORE GRIFFITH ADVERTISING AGENCY Broad St. - Griffith Griffith FEDERAL SAVINGS LOAN A.
