CLASS PROPHECY 1949 by Irma Smith and Doris Humerickhouse Our days of school are finally past, And we hold some memories fond ; To think twelve years could move so fast As we look to the future beyond. We put all seriousness aside As we gaze at the next few years And see the seniors of 40 — And here’s how they appeal. Watt is the new county justice of peace; Two little cheer ' caders have Carl and Theresc; Lorraine has a gift shop and business is fine; Sherry and Johnny have a family of nine. Carolyn is playing in Carneg ie Hall, And Sommers takes lessons on how to grow tall. Berry is coaching at old Notre Dame; Hollywood ' s offering Jackie both fortune and fame. A doctor is Braam, giving pills to the sick; Clemens invented a new smear-proof lipstick. Simons is the national checker champion. Roberts writes novels on romance and passion. Christensen has joined up with Harry James; Oldert ' s on Broadway with other big names. A celebrity is Ault touring all the night clubs; Heiss got a patent for longer bath tubs. Jim Brown is a sports writer with many a fan; Kartwig loves his job, he ' s a traveling salesman. June and Annie star in a soap box opera. And Smeltzer can croon just like Frankie Sinatra. Siltanen plays hockey with the Chicago Blackhawks. Williams, a politician, gives some long-winded talks. Benjamin ' s a wrestler and Iris a librarian; Vinnie is now a full fledged vetenarian. Humerickhouse is Disney ' s successor, And top nctch mechanics are Weaver and Kesler Kolb is a banker with barrels of money; Walters still writes letters that start, Hiya Honey. Domsic is Highland ' s leading mortician; Lois Lange has a very high social position. Both Smith and Homer have married, as planned; Delores Wilson is teaching and is much in demand. Donna is married and raising little Stassens; A teacher is Hutchins giving accordian lessons. Sexton ' s become the first female hermit,

A plumber is Mold, and his helper is Kenny; Galik ' s on the poor farm with nary a penny. Wojtasek and Kuiper now run a day nursery. Swingler and Osborn celebrated their eighth anniversary. Thompson got shot and now plays on a harp; Fortune and fame came to Gloria Sharp. L.azar is a dentist and Coffman his nurse. While Hattenbach and Celmer are driving his hearse. Carl and Leo sell cheap real estate; Barth is still single; can ' t find the right mate. Miss Wright has retired; Kelly ' s got her job; We can ' t find Gehrke; she got lost in a fog. Dress designers are Ov ens and Dixon; A soda-jerk is Bennet, and sundaes he ' s fixin. Nurses fine are Vera and Anna Mae; Puent ' s debut was held yesterday. Delores Gatlin now owns twenty-three drive-ins; Mandernack got married and has two sets of twins. Augustine and Handy enjoy wedded bliss; A racer is Stevenson; he takes many a risk. Charles Atlas took Ullrich into partnership; Van Korsen and Parsons are on their honeymoon trip. Cook and Jacobus sing on WMAQ; A lawyer is Lukacs, and his clients are few. Shafer and Mattingly teach at Gregg Shorthand College, While Matias is writing a volume on knowledge. An insurance salesman is scheming Butch Miller.
