THE 19 4 6 REFLECTOR PUBLISHED BY THE SENIOR CLASS OF GRIFFITH HIGH SCHOOL GRIFFITH, INDIANA ROLL OF HONOR s ' . DEDICATED TO THE FOLLOWINC MEMBERS OF CRIFF(TH HIGH SCHOOL WHO HAVE ENTERED THE ARMED FORCES OF OUR COUNTRY DEDICATION We hereby dedicate this annual to ’ those members and graduates of Griffith High School who served in World War II. ■AW f.iftA, GRIFFITH SCHOOL In this, the 1946 Reflector of Griffith High School, the annual staff, representing the senior class, has attempted to picture our school, its teachers, students and their activities. ( 3 ) SCHOOL ANNUAL A memento of school days ' golden hour, Keeping memory as fresh as dew, School day reflections resound from each leaf, Echoing forever anew. Picturing clearly the friends through the years, The activities of each class; Recalling to mind a fast fading thought, Concerning a laddie or lass. The rooms where wisdom seemed always to roam, The halls where new friendships grew old, The trophy case showing the victory cups, Each one worth its weight in pure gold. Renewing visions of faculty true, To duties throughout the school term; The favorite ones, so dear to the young, Whose methods were gentle, yet firm. Memories of school days enrich the years, As we journey the paths of life, Keeping hands touching across the long miles, Though wandering far in the strife. Wilson and Miss Helen Wright, Sponsors. Griffith High School should be proud of its Class of 1946. Not only because of its size should it be so but also because this class is the first to graduate under the North Central Association. This Senior Class of ours has 81 mem- bers — the largest in the history of Griffith High School. We owe much to the able Sponsors we have had in all of our four years who have done their utmost to guide us in the best way possible. We appreciate their efforts even through at times they might not have thought we did. We ' ve had a lot of fun in our years at G.H.S. and we hope that the rest of the classes will be able to say as much. We will more than likly never forget our Junior-Senior Prom at Lincolnshire nor the scrumtious Junior Banquet at Tiebel ' s. Memories like that are hard to forget. In our class this year we have six boys, who were formerly in the Armed Forces, who have passed their General Education Development test and are now entitled to receive their diplomas with us. They are; Ted Hansen, Martime Service; Garrett Eriks, Army; George Evenson, Army; Paul Schaefer, Army; Charles Kissinger, Navy and Jim Dugger, Navy. So, with the best of luck and the hope of a bright and Cheery future to you all, we say good-bye to our happy years at good old Griffith School. The Junior class consists of seventy nine students who through the three years of high school have been guided into numerous acheivements by competitent advisors such as our Junior sponsors Miss Henry and Mr. Sanders. The Juniors have done much for the good of their class and the entire community by sel- ling magizine subscriptions, taking charge of concessions at both football and basketball games, and selling Panther and G pins to the boosters of G.H.S. Other successful activities include a Halloween dance and a Junior-Senior Prom held at Dance Land in honor of the Senior class. After three years of war-time restrictions the Junior- Senior banquet with plenty of fried chicken was another high light in our activity program. At the beginning of the year when the Seniors decided they wanted an annual, very few of us realized what a big job it would be. After things got rolling we began to see what a task we had undertaken. Many were the times that we wished that we had never heard the word Annual before, but we stuck with our work. Now that it ' s all over and we have had a chance to lock at the year book, we ' re glad that we did tackle the job and well — we ' re rather proud of the 1946 Reflector. Thanks a iot, students and sponsors, for your wonderful cooperation in making this book possible. We sincerely hope you like it. Sponsor Miss Martha Nash Activity Editors Vance Brown Mr. C.
