--.-..-, BIIABD 0F EllUCATION Griffin and Spalding County school systems were consolidated on -lanuary 1, 1953, but not un- til January 1954 was a new Board of Education elected. During that year, the new system was served by a board made up of five members from each of the former systems. The members of this board found many questions to be answered, prob- lems to be solved. and difficulties to be overcome. The school and community owe them a debt of gratitude for their efficient handling of the situa- tion. The men who served on this board were Chairman, Dr. K. S. Hunt, Vice Chairman, Mr. Taylor Manley, Members, Mr. XV. K. Bailey, Mr. C. A. Brooks, Mr. A. Copeland, Mr. l. XV. Greer, Mr. NY'ill Hill Newton, ll, Mr. Phil Sanson, Mr. D. B. Searcy, Mr. H. L. Steele. The present board, elected and installed in .lanuary 1954, consists of Dr. Hunt, Mr. Manley, Mr. Bailey, Mr. Billy G. Brooks, Mr. C. A. Brooks, Mr. Copeland, Mr. Greer, Mr. Newton, Mr. Ennis Parker, Mr. R. G. Vickery. To these men the Aerie staff, on behalf of the high school student body, expresses its sincere apprecia- tion for the time, energy, and thought which they give to the school, and pledges its support to the efforts of the board to develop and improve the schools of Griffin and Spalding County. .XXX Front Row: Hunt, Manley, Parker, Brooks.
