She has become a part of its life and has made for herself an important place in the hearts of her pupils. Words can never express our appreciation of her interest and service, and of the high standards which she has maintained for her students. Although she will not be at Griffin High next year, her iniiuence will continue to be felt both by those who are still here and by those who have gone out into the world as graduates of the school. Miss Maud, the Senior Class and the staii' of The Spotlight hope that you will carry with you pleasant memories of school life and will continue to feel, as we do, that you are still a part of Grifiin High. www Thirty-five fm un num runs .N nu L Nm. .MN MQ! 5 su. mm um wx- -. There was joy in the fact of knowing We followed the setting sung In these halls we found love for each other, And the hope that our work was well done. If the pages of time could turn backward, How our school days we'd like to repeatg But time beckons us onward-forever, With firm step we advance, not retreat. Can we slack the work set before us? UNIT AT During the year 1935-'36 G. H. S. continued the new system of military instruction that was introduced last year. Under this system the theoretical training of the student is given much more consideration than ever before. At least one full period a day is devoted to it in the classes. Twice weekly the combined classes drill at activity period. During the week the cadets receive the principles which they put into performance on these days. This enables the cadets to get a better outlook on the whole course also enabling them to become better and more capable leaders. The following theoretical subjects were taken up under the capable leadership of Captain John B. Cooley, and Sergeant J. L. Kirby: scouting, and patroling, military courtesy and customs, first aid, hygiene, combat principles, interior guard duty, mus- ketry, and map reading. The most important work of the R. O. T. C. is to develop leaders instead of followers. To this end nothing has been left undone. Instead of being just a part of the school the R. O. T. C. unit has endeavored to become a credit to the school and we are proud of it. The benefit of a course in military training is apparent both physically and mentally. This fact has become well recognized by all concerned and it is the urge of the school that every able-bodied boy contribute his part in holding up the tradition of G. H. S. and in making it an institution that the nation as well as the community may be proud of. Sixty-two Idiiifgifgg-fEME3P'fl' 1'fQf4fQf+e1 E QE WESFE if fe SEZ!
