In ff atriots rose from every corner of the struggling country. Help came from other European countries to add to the flame of breaking the grip of England. Farmers, fish- ermen, cobblers and men from every walk of life took up their arms to defend this new- felt right to be free. Under new head coach Iohn Fragale and assistant coach Ray Anderson the Iackets had there first undefeated season since 1953. In doing so the Jackets won the Marais de Cygnes football conference, a rat- ing of 6th in the state, and a trip to the state play- offs. The Yellowjackets dominated league play, av- eraging over 40 points a game while holding their op- ponents to a 12 point average. Gridley placed 7 players on the all conference first team and 4 more on the second team. Coach Fragale speaking about his players said he has never met or probably never will meet a better bunch of boys than we had this year. They did everything I ask of them and more, they wanted to win and they did! We had a heck of a season, a season we can be proud of and one that will always be remembered!
