Chief Bill Gladiatory Performs for the Talent Show. Leon Wins the 1970 Rockingliorse Championship 'l Morning Gloryl' SNEAK TRIP X At 6:00 a.m., May 12. 1970, the Senior Class of Gridley High School left for Kirkwood Lodge, south of Bagnell Dam. The twenty-one class members, and sponsors, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Birk, and Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Worrell, were setting out for three days of fun. They arrived at the lodge about ll:00 a.m., and were greeted with a welcoming speech and an introduction to the other schools there. The rest ofthe first day was spent with swimming, various activities, and dancing. Each night the lodge sponsored a dance, talent show, and weiner roast, which was enjoyed by all. On May 13, the class rose early and went to Dogpatch. The morning was spent touring shops and various places in the Dog- patch area. Riding go-carts was exciting. After returning to the lodge for lunch, the bus loaded with happy seniors departed again for a place where the students could ride bumper cars and go-carts. Other students enjoyed canoeing, speed boat riding. and other water activities. After dinner that evening, the class departed for a trip on an excursion boat, the Larry Don. The excursion lasted two hours. The group enjoyed dancing to the music ofthe Blue Knights on the two decks ofthe boat. On May l4, the seniors toured a Cedarcraft factory and the Indian Burial Cave. After the tour through the cave, the class went to Dogpatch for dinner and more shopping. Then, returning to the lodge, the afternoon was spent sunbathing, boating, and swimming. ln the evening, all went to Lee Mace's Ozark Opry. This part ofthe trip was especially enjoyed by everyone. On May 15, the bus departed for home at 9:45 a.m. All the seniors left the lodge with mixed feelings. The class extends its thanks to the sponsors, to the Kirkwood Lodge, and to all those who in many ways helped make this trip possible. lt was a happy time, and it will always be a wonderful memory of our high school days. l K as a l BACCALAUREATE Sunday, May 17, 1970 8:00 P.M. I can't truthfully say, 'sl hate it, But to you I will admit, lt's getting a little boring, And the homeworkls not a hit. Teachers are only human, And they have their civil rights, But they keep us here at school all day, And make sure we stay home at night. Next I ask a favor as you, uEarn your daily breadf' When I hand in an assignment, Please, don't mark it up in red. Now Fm not protesting, For that I'd never do, l'm just giving some suggestions, So consider them, Won't you? E. , s was A tt: - 1 ' rim' Series 1' QIICAH. 7 MAD!
