6 ' 6: 'f HS 'LH' 11 if 'fifjf Ji 2.-'as 95.7 'H ' ,,,,.v --X mu X is a so one 211 SOPHOMOIEI H ISTORY 1955 1956 In September of 1955, 28 green freshmen stormed into the halls of Gridley High On the 29th of that same month, we were all traditlonlly initlated mto the rank of freshmen At our flrst class meeting we elected our class officers They were as follows president, D1ck Stoller, vice president , Sue Freed, secretary, Betty Witzlg, treasurer, Martha Drury, hlstorian, Nancy Helm The Student Council members we elected were Joyce M9188 Tom M8183 Kay Sommer Spencer Bauman Our class sponsors were Hrs Rodgers and Mr Ihzrchholz The freshman queen's attendant was Joyce Meiss Baton twirlers for the band were Joyce Meiss, Elaine Stoller Connie Fosdick, Betty Witzig, and alternate, Ann Andrews Kq Sommer was chosen as cheerleader 1956 19 7 The Sophomore class during the summer of 1956 had two refreshment stands at the centenial Everyone worked and coooerated very well This was only one of our class projects We also picked up corn, sold candy called katy-dids, sponsored a basketball game for the faculty, and at home gmes had a coat check Our class officers for the year were Sue Freed as president, Spencer Bauman as vice presidf-rf, Martha Drury as treasurer, Betty Witzig as secretary, and Nancy Helm as historian Kay Sommer, Connie Fosdick, Do f Stoller, and Spencer Bauman represented our class on the Student Council For homecoming, we finally decided on the slogan of Le1d.ngton's Last Ride We cou1dn't w1n a prlze with it, but we all had fun working on it Our queen's attendant was Betty Witzig, her ltemate was Sue Freed 1021 19 ' . . . . . u.a. - FRESHMAN H ISTORY 19 6 19 7 On August 29, 1956, thirty six scared, but happy freshmen started a brand new experience We were officially initiated September 17 Our class officers for our first year in G C H 8 were Pah- Meiss, president, Nick Hoobler, vice-president, Freidora Wettstein Secretary Treasurer, Pat Roth, reporter, and Janet Wiegand, sergeant at 311118 Later on in the year, Pete Heiss and Nick Hoobler's places as officers were succeeded by Gerald Dodson, president, and Judith Witzig, 'ice president Sponsoring us were Mrs Shoemaker and Mr Yoder We flected four members from our class to serve on the student counc 'L They were Herb Stoller, Karen Siebenthal, Gerald Dodson, and Marilyn athbun We gave the Sophomores a re+ vrn party on February 111 In the fall, we picked up corn and had a paper drive to raise money for our class fund During the year, Faye Wells was elected as queen's attendant We gained some new students and lost some, Jack Mays, Pegg Jones to Missouri , and Faye Wells to Fairfield June Pommier came to us from Flanagan, then left to back, and Allan Tracy came from Octavia, then left to ElPaso During our Freshman year, one of our most outstanding members, Gerald Dodson, met with a fatal accident All of us miss hm very much This caused Judith Witzig to become our new pres1dent, and we elected Nick Hoobler as our as our tudent council member in his place ,QQ 'FY W 0 s L Q ' '75 Q Q Z fs 55 if 'fl Z 1 4 45, ' I 'T x l ly O U . . . .
