SENIOR HISTORY 19 3 19514 In September of 1953, twenty three green freshmen walked into the halls of Gr1dley High We started the year off w1th a bang by being inltiated When it was all over, we decided it wasn't so bad anyway We elected officers during the first six weeks They were as fol lows President, Marlene Stoller, v1ce president, Lee Carglll, secretary treasurer, Merle Ger1g, and historian, Pat McCullough Our class sponsors were Mrs Shoemaker and Mr Kyger The students that we elected to serve on the student council were Karen Witzig, Lee Cargill, Pat Reeves, and Terry Miller During the course of the year we lost three of our members, Kaywln Pfefflnger, Shirley Hull, and Lawrence Hershe The freshman queen's attendant was Pat Reeves and her alternate was Betty Simpklns Pat Reeves was also the freshman cheerleader 19 la 19 Our class officers for this year were president, Sid Martin, vice president, Lee Carglll, secretary treasurer, Terry Miller, and historian Pat McCullough Our cheerleader was Pat Reeves, a.nd our queen attendant was Evelyn Rinkenberger Our sponsors were Mrs Cote and Hr Kyger On September 20th we gave the freshmen tne annual init1ation party at the lake They gave us a return volley ball oarty on September 27th Durlng the year we had one basketball game with Limestone, a country store, and three bake sales We had a number of boys out for sports in which they d1d very well We are very proud of them We entered our Junlor year w1th n1neteen pup1ls and at the end of the year we had nlneteen Our class officers for this year were Lee Cargill, president, Marge Roth, v1ce president, Karen Witzig, secretary, Terry Miller, treasurer, and Pat McCullough, historian Our queen attendant was Karen Witzig and alternate was Pat Reeves Pat Reeves also rece1ved a B on a dramatic reading for the literary contest Our sponsors were Mrs Wisthuff and Hr Roznowslu Durlng the year we had the stands for football, basketball, and tracrc meets We also had bake sales and a couple of car washes Our Junlor play was A Case of Springt1me It was held on April 13 W had a talent show on May 21 19 6 19 7 In our final year of hlgh school, we had only eighteen students Class officers for th1s year were Pres1dent, Sid Martin, v1ce pres1dent, Burt Grusy, secretary, Lee Carglll, treasurer, Terry Miller, and parliamentarian, Merle Gerig Our student councll members were, Karen Witzig, Lee Cargill, Te Miller, and Burt Grusy The float we entered in the homecoming parade received second place Our queen was Ramona Finck and king was Terry Miller Their attendants were Pat McCullough and Lee Cargill The senior plqr, 'Arsenic and Old Lace , was held November 16 e Junior Senior banquet was held My 10 at the Tilden Hall Hotel in Bloonungton r sponsors for th1s year were Mr Osborn and Mrs Miller 15 S 5 55 1955 , D ' I 1956 ' Q ' . . . e s D 5 ' 1'I'.Y Th i - mf 5 . Junior History 19 b 19 The day, August 30, marked a new exper1ence for twenty two fresh men with the help of our sponsors, M188 Fox and Mr Hill, we s on felt at ease For our officers we elected Joyce Kuerth, president, Iohn Witzig, vice president, Beverly Meiss, secretary, and M1chael K1efer, treas urer To represent us in Student Council we chose Mary Ann Gibbs Roberta Rlnkenberger, Marjorie Enns, and R1chard Stucky On September 20, the dreaded initiation day arrived we were given an initiation party by the sophomores on October 12 A return party was held the evening of November 18 During the year we lost three members, Rodney Meister, Brandon Martln, and Eldon Meier The class was busy all year earning money Some of the things we d1d were plck up corn, had candy sales and scrap drives we had very good results Beverly M8155 was chosen cheerleader and hOmGCOm1ng queen at tendant Roberta Rinkenberger was her alternate Roberta was also the first Snowflake Queen at the F H A F F A dance 19 19 6 The sophomore class once more assembled in Gridlev High School to begln another year of hard studying and long asslgnments Many of us had to burn the midnight oil At our first class meeting, we elected class officers They ar Michael Kiefer, president, Richard Stucky, vice president Mary Ann Gibbs, Richard Stucky, John Witzig, and Michael Kiefer were our Student Council representatives During the year Gloria Grusy moved from Chen a to join us Clifford Benedict started back to school in the sec nd semester The class appolnted a com ittee to find ways to make money The ideas they came up with were much the same as last year he results were very good Our sponsors, Mrs Adams and Mr Hill were very helpful Roberta Rinkenberger and Beverly Meiss were chosen as cheer leaders Beverly was homecoming queen attendant w1th Roberta as her alternate The whole class was very proud of our float which won first prize The theme was Wwho La Win, Gr1dley9' 1956 1957 We entered our Junior year with seventeen pupils Our class officers for the year were president, Mary Ann G1bbs, vice president, Michael Kiefer, secretary, Joan Taylor, and treasurer, John Witzig John wltzig, Michael Kiefer, Davie Roth, and Joyce Kuerth repre sented us in Student Council The class sponsors, Mrs Wisthuff and Mr Hill were verv help ful in making our Junior year profitable Some of our projects were pick1ng up corn, stands for football, basketball, and track meets, a St Patrick's Day Dance, and selling pork Our float 'Harbin' Victory' won first prize The Junior Senior Banquet was on May 10 in Blo mlngt n Roberta Rinkenberger and Beverly Me1ss were chosen as cheer leaders Joyce Kuerth was homec mlng queen attendant 17 1 J'm 1, N bl ML I Q17 Fr , f If W way, 'Vs 5 ' 55 . .'
