Sn January 2lst and 22nd the entire chapter toured to St Louis to visit the Ralston Purina mills and laboratory We also visited their research farm in Gray Summit, Missouri The trip proved to be very interesting and all had a good time This year, as in the past, we sold garden seeds and cards to earn money for the chapter treasury Most every one carried out their part well in these projects Burton Grusy, Terry Miller, Sidney Martin, and Larry Steward were picked from the chapter to represent Gridley at the Duroc Jersey judging contest At the Dairy Judging Contest held at Pontiac Prison we picked Burt Grusy, Terry Miller, Sidney Martin, Merle Gerig, and Ed McKinley to represent us Auburn wells was chosen from our chapter to participate in the Ford Tractor contest, and Stanley Martin was picked to receive the DeKalb Award for the year This year has proved to be a very active one and a very enjoyable one also F. S NJ ii 6 nfl 9,6 ' B K :IQ ,fi i4 qwnxcngf' 0Y l'7 '7' A4 V5 111 3 HOMECOMING 0n October l and 2 the eighth annu l Homecoming w s celebrated The weather was perfect for the occasion and everyone was in the best of spirits At 2 30 P M on Friday the parade got under way, officially opening the big Homecoming weekend Many ex cellent floats of all kinds were entered in the parade The three Judges from Chenoa decided on the prize winning and sixth grades, second prize to the sophomore class, and third prize to the freshmen class The seventh and eighth grades received honorable mention On Friday evening the usual Homecoming football game was played We defeated Lexington 33 7 to make it a more engoyable festivity, During the half of the game, the king and queen were announced They were Connie Car gill and Don Liming The two runners up were Janet Wit zig and Wilbur Hany The Alumni Banquet was held in the grade school gym on Saturday, and it was served by the WSCS of the Metho dist Church. About 200 people attended the banquet. Mr. Nafziger acted as master of ceremonies. At 9:00 the same evening the big Homecoming Dance was held in the high school gym with Don Adams furnishing the music for the large attendance. At 10 o'clock the king floats. They gave the first prize to the fourth, fifth, and queen were crowned.
