VAUGHN This has been a year of growth at Gridley High School in many ways. First, our enrollment is the largest in the history of the school. Our facilities have expanded and we have a larger staff than we have had in the past. This type of growth is of interest, but it is not the type that is our principal interest. It is not nearly so important as the growth and de- velopment of our students. The growth of our students is evidenced in many walyst their intellectual and academic growth, as every student spends a greater part of his school day working toward this goaL The student's physical growth is another area in which the school plays an important part. Both boys and girls spend part of their day in improv- ing their bodies and their co-ordination for healthful living and recre- ation. We are also interested in the aesthetic growth of our students: art, music, speech arts, and similar classes aid in their growth, The students' social growth is another area that has captured our interest. We have many club meetings, dances, assemblies, etc., that help our students grow in this direction. This is just a partial list of the growth of students' experience. It is my hope that our students will progress in all areas so that in their adult lives they will be happy and useful citizens. Principal's Message The Indlspensable fu. This game proved that the Bulldogs were going to be hard to stop. GRIDLEY-0 ANDERSON-12 With key players down with the flu, the Bulldogs didn't play up to their potential. They were defeat ed by a strong Anderson Cub team which scored once in each half. This was by far the worst game Gridley played all season. 42 GRIDLEY 12 LINCOLN 7 Gridley scored twice in the nrst half but was un able to get a scoring punch started in the second half The Lincoln Zebras scored their line touchdown ID the Don Wilson GRIDLEY-20 SUTTER -0 Gridley again played a good game and defeated a surprising strong Sutter Huskie team. Gridley scor ed two touchdowns in the first half and their last in the third quarter. The Gridley defense was able to hold the Huskies scoreless. GRIDLEY-21 CORNING-0 The Bulldogs came back from their defeat of the week before and beat the Corning Cardinals. Gridle scored twice in the first half and once in the second half. The highlight of the game came when the Cardinals had a first dovm and goal to go on the Gridley one yard line, but failed to score. Y CRIDLEY-6 WILLOWS-0 Gridley beat Willows for the first time in fifteen years and finally broke the jinx the Honkers seemed to have on the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs scored in the first quarter and then held Willows scoreless the en- tire game. This marked the first time Willows had been held scoreless in a league game in ten years. GRIDLEY-20 COLUSA -12 The Colusa Redskins were undefeated as the Bull- dogs undertook them. The scoring started in the first quarter as Gridley took the lead immediately and never let go of it. As the final gun sounded the Bull- dogs were on top, but they would readily admit that they were up against a good ball club GRIDLEY-12 ORLAND-7 The Bulldogs squeezed by Orland with a couple of goal line stands, which proved the Bulldogs defensive powers when needed. This game would not be class- ified as one of Gridley's better games although the score was in our favor. GRIDLEY-32 LIVE OAK-6 Even though Live Oak's team hadn't had a very successful season, Gridley entered this game with great skepticism. The first half was a hard fought ball game but during the second half the Bulldogs went wild and finished the season in high glory. Football Trophy Winners.
