L to nz msn CLARK. om aunnm, mc osmmpgg Comments from the Editor The editing of the GRIDLEY '76 WESTPAC Cruise Book began in April of 1976 and has been continuous since then. A publisher had to be found, volunteers had to be solicited and a staff had to be assembled. Once areas of responsibility were assigned, the real job began, that of selling subscriptions, accounting for film, processed negatives and prints. The important job fell on the volunteers from the division who did an excellent job of seeing to it that their division was represented. We had over 5700 prints to choose from. As you can see, we had to elimi nate many, and when we came down to choosing the 300 plus pictures, the chore became even more difficult. Here you see the best of what was offered. Many individuals were involved in the finished product. I would like to thank the Division Representatives for their contributions. My Business Manager, Luis uPanamau Clark did an excellent job of account- ing for all the costs involved with the processing and printing of negatives and prints, and of the selling and accounting of funds in- volved with the subscription sales. Tony Burnett did a fine job of photo editing and coordination. Both men gave up many hours of free time, both at sea and in port, to rough out the cruise book. Both provided many hours of work with the walsworth Publishing Company staff in San Diego to ensure that the finished product would be the best we had to offer. I extend my thanks to the Commanding Officer, Executive Officers and to both the Recreation Council and Com ittee for their support. With- out their support this endeavor would not have been possible- I hope you will enjoy this cruise book for many years t0 CONG- l L.Iq?T O f J YNC USN , , - ' L If 5, f'fL,3'ii,'f .
