STUDENT COUNCIL Several innovations at Gresham High were spear- headed this year by the Student Council, Working under the new studentbody constitution. The council was headed by Bob Nelson, who also presided over the assemblies. Early in the year the council set up an assembly committee which planned the assembly schedule and Studentbody president Bob Nel- son looks on as Donna Gay Snider, student body secretary, reads the minutes in assembly. instituted competitive class assemblies. A winter carnival, under the chairmanship of Doug I-Iering, student body vice president, in late january was another major undertaking of the council. The various school clubs ran the carnival booths and the profits were divided between the clubs and the stu- dent body on a 20-80 per cent basis. The approval of the rally squads, chartering of the Ski Club, selection of the candidates for Argus editor, were among the accomplishments this year. The student council consists of eight class represen- tatives Ctwo elected from each classj, three members chosen from the student body at large, and the five student body officers.
