l E. G. LARSON, Chairman SCHOOL BOARD The Board of Directors is the democratic foundation of Gresham High School. They are elected by the legal voters of the school district, to build, maintain, and operate the school. They are the people's voice in the management of the school, and they conscientiously work toward making the school one of the best. Gresham's School Board has five members coming from separate ele- mentary school districts, but who attempt, nevertheless, to represent the entire population served by the school. E. G. Larson, chairman of the group, is from Gresham, District No. 4. Other members are: W. W. Masten, Lynch, District No. 28, V. H. Sipe, Union, District No. 26, Clackamas County, E. E. Settergren, Orient, District ljointl No. 6, and Harvey Snyder, Powell Valley, District No. 26, Multnomah County. George W. Page is the clerk, appointed by the School Board and a resident of Gresham. The School Board decides on all matters of policy as well as handling the innumerable small details necessary to operate a school of Gresham's size. They authorize the spending of money for school expenses, plan the budget, hire employers, and okay all improvements in the school's building, curriculum and management. ' Much of Gresham's student body comes from non-high school districts, which complicates the duties of the School Board. They, nevertheless, work for the welfare of all the students of the school and resolve that all attending shall receive as good instruction as this school is able to afford.
