GERALD BAUER In Memoriam In memory of Katherine Olive Mehus, (1945-1954), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Mehus of Grenora. Kathy was highly thought of and loved by the student body, and especially by the graduating class of nineteen hundred sixty-three, of which she was a member. May God bless her memory. Rabine, superintendent of Grenora Schools, was born at Hamilton, North Dakota, in Pembina County. He attended grade and high school at Hamil- ton. He attended Valley City Teachers College, Sioux Falls College, Dickinson State Teachers College and the University of North Dakota. He has his Bachelor of Arts and Master's Degrees. He is married to Dolly Catract of Ken- mare, North Dakota, and they have three children, Edwin, an electronic engineer at Melbourne, Florida, Eugene, a music major at Wesleyan College in Fort Worth, Texas, and Ramona, a math major at Ar- lington State College in Arlington, Texas. Mrs. Walter Enget is our school sec retary. Mrs. Enget graduated from Noonan High School and attended Fargo Business College. Gerald D. Bauer, our principal, was bom at Beulah, North Dakota. He attend- ed grade school at Zap and graduated from Zap High School in May of 1954. He attended Dickinson State Teachers College and taught for one year at a rural school in the Zap area. In June of 1958 he married Ruby E. Stern, and they have one daughter, Kim- berly Ann. He graduated from D.S.T.C. in the spring of 1959 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary and Secondary Edu- cation. He has a composite major in sci- ences with a social science minor. He came here when we were Freshmen and saw us through high school. He was our Senior Class Ad- visor. The student body of Grenora has decided to purchase a new steel desk and chair in memory of Mr. Rabine. Funeral services for George H. Rabine, 55, superintendent of schools here for the past four years, were held May 18, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Children attended a morn- ing service and adults a second serv- ice in the afternoon. Officiating were Rev. Don Gaarder of Grenora and Rev. Charles Hogan of Willis- ton. Burial will be in the Grenora Cemetery. Mr. Rabine, who died Wednes- day in a Williston hospital, was born Nov. 20, 1906, at Hamilton, N. D. He grew up there and was graduated from Hamilton High School. He at- tended Jamestown College, Dickin- son State Teachers College, Sioux Falls College in South Dakota, and the University of North Dakota. He married the former Dolly Catract at Norma on June 27, 1929. Prior to his assignment at Grenora, he was a superintendent of schools at Lansford, Portal, Grace City, Aneta, and Mapleton. He had been teach- ing since 1929. Survivors are his widow; two sons, Edwin of Melbourne, Fla. and Eugene of Fort Worth, Tex.; one daughter, Ramona, of Fort Worth; and one brother, the Rev. E. F.
