President Dean Schafer Sec. Treas. Marilyn Oien Vice-Pres. Phyllis Christenson Senior Class History In the fall of 1950, 28 timid freshmen entered the famous halls of Grenora High School. Ours was the first freshman class not to be initiated and this also marked the first year that the buses ran to Zahl and South Grenora. During the year we lost 3 of our class members Lylas Trogstad, Robert Jacobson, and LeRoy Sorenson. Lylas dropped out after the beginning of the school term, and Robert and LeRoy met with an unfortunate car accident on Mother’s Day of our freshman year. The officers for this year were: Pres. Dean Schafer, V. Pres. LeRoy Bendixscn, Sec. Treas. Claude Trulson, Student Council Rep. JcAnne Pedersen. Our class advisor that year was Miss Vinge. When we returned in the fall of 1951, we found 2 members absent from our class Carol Slaaen, who had moved to Spokane, Wash., and Janis Negaard, who had moved to Plentywood, Mont. This year Phyllis Christenson, who attended school at Noonan, N. Dak. her freshman year, was a new member of our class. The officers for this year were Pres. Emily Quarne, V. Pres. Evelyn Molvik, Sec. Treas. Herman Bommen, Student Council Reo. Chip Poling. Our class advisor was Mr. Urness. In the fall of 1952 when roll call was taken, we found that everyone was oresent with the addition of a new class member, Ted Olson, who came from Warwick, No. Dak. During the year Evelyn Molvik dropped out and the number in our class now was 25. The officers for this school term were Pres.-Joy Rustad, V. Pres.— Phyllis Stady, Sec. Treas.-Alma Mae Sneva, Student Council Rep.-Ted Olson. Miss Gillmer was our advisor and also directed the play Aunt Cathy’s Cat , which was very successful. The lunch which we served after the play helped swell our treasurey. The theme for the banquet and prom, honoring the seniors, was Blue- bird Island . When we returned for our final year, we found our class number again decreased by the absence of Beverly Berg and Phyllis Stady, so we are now down to 23 memoers. Our senior class officers are: Pres.-Dean Schafer, V. Pres.-Phyllis Christenson, Sec. Treas .-Marilyn Cien, Student Council Reo.-Emily Quarne. C at advisor this year is Mr. Aarthun. During this, our senior year, we have edited the school oaoer, Gopher Tales , and have been active on the staff of the 10th. edition of the year book. This year we presented the olay. Arc You Kidding , with Miss Gillmer as our adviser. As the curtain falls on the history of the class of 1954, we, as seniors, want to wish the best of luck to those who new are members of our high school and to all those who will be entering and enjoying Grenora High School. We wer9 not initiated but the sophomore class gave a hobo oarty in our honor, which heloed us to ?et acquainted with the students. During the year we lost two ‘students, Charles Tollefsrude and Richard Dragseth. Our class officers were: Alden Hagen, Pres.; Molly Moorhead, V. Pres.; Anne Kraus, Sec. Treas.; and Doris Ann Groth, our Student Council Representative. Our class advisor was Mr. Brakke. When we returned in our sophomore year, everyone was back and in addition two more girls, Carole Rasmussen from Medicine Lake and Shelene Vig from Wil- liston. During the year we lost Vernon Skabo, Dale Eliassen, Ronny Anderson, and Gene Scott. We gave a one-act play for open-house night called, All Carrs to the Rescue,” which was a big success and helped us start our Junior year with money in our treasury. This year our class officers were: Fletcher Poling, Pres.; JoAnn Garaas, V. Pres.; and Doris Ann Groth, Sec. Treas. Gene Scott was our Student Council Representative and when he left Floyd Olson was elected. Our class advisor was Mr. Peterson. Now, as juniors and upper-classmen, we feel quite important. We presented our class play, wPlain Jane”, with Miss Gillmer as our director, to a full house on Nov. 20. The proceeds from it and our large profit on the lunch we served at the North Missouri tournament, helped to pay the expenses of the Junior-Senior banquet and prom. Cur officers this year are: David Musgjerd, Pres.; Nancy Clemetson, V. Pres.; and Patricia Isaacson, Sec. Treas. Our Student Council Representative is Alden Hagen and our class advisor is Miss Gillmer. In our three years we have had the honor of having our candidate for queen chosen Carnival Queen each year. They were: JoAnn Garaas, Lorna Rustad, and Molly Moorhead. We are now a class of 26 and we hope to maintain that number until we graduate, and to leave as good a record as the past seniors have left in Grenora High.
