'i 1: . , - -' . , - ' -,tg M ,,,,, 5 M, SENIOR TRIP April 25 the seniors left for Washington D. C. They boarded the train amid the shuffling of bags, radios, and a uke. Upon their arrival in Washington, they were ushered onto their sightseeing bus, They first visited the Bureau of Engraving and Print- ing, which was very interestingg next, they went to the Capitol Building: after visiting the solemn atmosphere of the Supreme Court building, they returned to the Hotel Annapolis for lunch. ' The afternoon tour consisted of the beautiful, impressive changing of the guard at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington, a brief stop at the Iwo Jima statue, its immense size and reality was very impressiveg next, was Momit Vernon, the home of Washington, There was a very beautiful view overlooking the Potomac. Enroute to Mount Vernon they entered the Church where George Washington and Robert E. Lee worshiped. The Annapolis Hotel was the destination for a tired group of Seniors. After a little rest, they dressed for dinner which was at the Casino Royal nightclub, They all enjoyed the food and the stage show featuring Lillian Briggs. That night at the hotel many things happened, including water bombs, flash bulb pictures, and a LITTLE bit of sleep. Bright and early the next morning they ate breakfast in the hotel dining room, Then they visited the Lincoln and Jefferson memorials, the White House and the Archives Building, One of the most remarkable sights was the Lincoln museum fold Ford Theaterl, where Lincoln was assassinated, and the old Peterson home, where he died, After ltmch they made their memorable climb to the top of the Washington monument. The view from the top of the monument was very inspiring. Their next stop was the Smithsonian Institute, where they saw the Kitty Hawk and the Spirt of St. Louis, The girls were interested in the gowns worn by the first ladies of the land. The next to last stop was the National Gallery of Art, which houses the most expensive art collection in existence. Then they took a shopping trip through Woodward and Lothrop's Department Store, where many of the boys bought bright shirts for the return trip. Breakfast the next morning was served while they rode through the Blue Ridge Mountains, and while riding along the Kentucky bank of the Ohio River, they ate dinner. - , -,.-p .. I, ,aff -nu- PROM The Junior-Senior Prom, honoring the Senior Class of 1956, was held Saturday, May 19 in the Student Union Building of the Indiana University Medical Center. The theme of Harbor Lights was carried out in the programs, orchestra pit, and attractive table decorations. Those who attended danced to the music of The Butler Collegians. At the .left, the Senior Class President, Diane Millspaugh, and her escort, Richard Darnell, talk with the Junior Class President, Lois Stretchberry, and her date, David Allen, at the punch table. I'm sure none of those who attended the dance will ever forget any of the things that happened that evening. Two Senior Class members were married before the prom, and two became engaged later in the evening. Pictured at right, enjoying the dance, are the bride and groom, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Neff, and their attendants, Phyllis Hendrickson and Lloyd Willis. Mrs. Neff is the former Mary Carroll.
