SPORTS SECTION OF GREENWOOD ANNUAIF ----------- Edited By Jack Bryson The basketball squad was under the direction of a new coach this season, Harold Lewing. The team had a fairly successful record win- ning 15 games while losing 17. Greenwood used the center pivot play with a fast break. The team scored 989 points to their opponents 992 Travis Bogue led in scoring with 410 points. Jackie Rose and Medselle Lagrone vied for runner-up honors. The second team had a highly suc- cessful season winning lB games and losing only 6. High light of the season was winning 2nd place in the North Caddo Tournament at Rodessa. Greenwood also advanced to the semi-finals of the North louisiana District Tburnament at Ruston. The baseball squad started spring training on February 29 under the direction of Mr. Hawkins. The first game scheduled is with St. Johns on April 6. The rooster of the squad is as follows: Pitchers: Bryson, Ham ett, McDonald, Richardson, Rose. Outfieldersz Bryson, Busby, Davidson, Hammett, Rose, Vaughn, Brosette Infieldersz Bogue, Brumble, Crenshaw, Davis, Fbrt, lagrone, Omer, J. Williams, T. Williams. Catchers: Cordray, Ham ett, Sanders. The track squad is coached by Mr. lewing. Boys going out for track are: 220: Cordray, Richardson. Quarter: J. Phillips, lagrone, Westmoreland. Q mile: Garland, B. Phillips, Vaughn. 100 Yards: Davidson. Mile: Crenshaw Shot, Discus, Javelin: Rose. Relay: Duncan, J. Williams.
