Final statistics showed that the team hit at a fast .368 clip. Leading the regulars with 21 for 41 was Kichler laines, outfielder and pitcher, who ended the season with a hefty .428 mark . . . lames also won two games while on the hill for the Enieralds. The righthander led the squad in numher of hits also as catcher Earl Botts and center- fielder Iimmy May were two short with 19 each. May made a strong bid at overtaking Iames in the finale as he collected three for five against Aiken. Lefthander Robert Lee Godfrey, seeing douhle duty action as a pitcher and first baseman, was second in the hitting parade with 9 for 22 and a .409 average. Botts and May round out the top four hitters with .395 and .380. while regulars Tolhert, Bufford and Thompson follow with .3J9, .343 and .333. Mike Blum, seeing action in 11 of the 13 games, had a .323 average and senior shortstop Donnie Crawford wound up with .3l4. Glenn Harrison, pitcher Tommy Greeson, and Skeeter VVatson saw limited action and each finished the season with a .400 or better average. Watson had 2-5 for .-400, Harrison had a hit in his only oil-icial time at hat for l.000, and Greeson had a 4-8 for a .500 mark. i L Z 4 l ,
