Q X ' 9jmf,i5 , -,...- ...Y- fddd Wialafzg One September day, twelve years ago, a group of little boys and girls found their way into the first grade room. Miss Louise Olive guided them through the first year of getting acquainted with school. Included in this group were Elizabeth, Barbara, and Negatha Pittman, Betty Jo Mitchell, Sara Windham, and Dorothy Bruner. We worked hard, played together, and learned to get along with one another. After Christmas we had to go to school in the Smith Mansion because our school building had bumed during the holidays. The second year all returned with bright, glowing smiles except Negarha, who moved to Panama City. This was a successful year with Miss Margaret Turner as our teacher. In the third grade we went to our new school building. Although it was not completed we were very proud of it. Negatha Pittman, Harold Jensen and Robert Culver joined our class this year. During the fourth year we had three teachers--Mrs. Cartledge, Mrs. Hughes, and Miss Willis. Miss Shirley Turner taught us in the fifth and sixth grades. In the seventh grade how happy, yet how awed we were to be in high school! Mr. W. C. Burdeshavs was our principal. Our eighth year was a successful one also. We were joined by Jo Neal Belche from Poplar Springs. The ninth year was to be even more marvelous than any before. As we walked into the room, we noted quite a few new pupils. These included Effie Clara Conrod, Vera Lee Conner, Roy Daniels, Lomell Mitchell, John Jackson, Christine Powell, Lavern Mercer, Charles Cloud, and R. C. Poole, all from Dellwood. Edwin Duce, Shirley Logan and Billy Oswald were from Central. School really began to take on new interest since our class was now a large one. Mr. G. W. Bryan was our new principal. In the tenth grade, Mr. Bryan was again our principal. Kenneth Davis and Buck Pierce joined our class this year. All of this made way for smooth sailing as juniors under the direction of our new principal, Mr. Deloney. Johnny Olive joined us this year. Our junior play, Call Me Darling , directed by Miss Baggett, was a great success. Then everybody indulged in the thrilling preparation for our Junior-Senior Banquet, sponsored by Mrs. Janice Allen. It was, also, during this year that we received our class rings. We began the twelfth year with our same principal and a new sponsor, Mrs. Deloney. Being a senior has brought some privileges.. We are very proud of our large class, which consists of twelve boys and twelve girls. We are publishing our edition of The Dragon's Den and know it will bring back many pleasant memories as we turn each page. The class of '52 is looking forward to the great future that lies ahead of us. Some will go to college, others will apply for jobs, and still others will enter married life. It has been a wonderful school life, and now as we near the top of the hill, we feel sure these twelve years will be a benefit and will make the going easier for each one of us. His daily practice and desire to keep in perfect condition will make him one of the best centers in Northwest Florida. Kenneth Davis: Senior, five feet-nine inches, the smallest man on the squad, but where there is lack of size there is greater use of brain. His speed is a threat to any opponent who relaxes on his heels. Edwin Duceg Senior, five feet-nine and one-half inches, a very good sport, is plenty fast and is always there fighting when the chips are down. His ability to dribble causes the enemy plenty of trouble. Edward Earl Hunt: Junior, six feet-one and one-half inches, the largest man on the squad, a size which sometimes proves to be a handicap. Though considered to be the seventh man on the squad, he keeps right on fighting for a regular position. He will see a lot of service before the season is over. Harold Jensen: Senior, six feet-one-half inches, this is his first year up for the Varsity squad. He had a good season with the B group last year, and that experience should prove to be of much value to him as the season goes by. At the present he is holding a regular position as guard. Buck Pierce: Senior, six feet-two inches, now holding down a for- ward position. Last year he had a good season, and should be even better this season. R. C. Poole: Senior, five feet -eleven inches, shifted to forward as an effort to improve the team, and that change seems to have helped. Up to the present time he has done a bang-up job at the position. He should improve as the season goes by. 14 S Pierce, Poole, Duce, Belche, Coach Hancock, Jensen, Hunt, Manager Culver. Not shown, Kenneth Davis. .?.s. S. Pittman, Shack, James Hart, M.
