P 1 I administration and personnel To the Class of 1972 You are entering a new and exciting period in lyour life. As you leave the ha lowed halls of your Greenwood Central School to enter the adult world of your post-graduate life, you are facing a most dif- ficult and trying world. There are many aspects of this world to which we adults look with pride and accomplishment. Conceming other aspects, we realize that our efforts have left something to be desired. It is hoped that you, as young adults, will also recognize our accomplishments and will build these to even greater heights. It is further oped by a l adults that those aspects of life which need im- proving, you will attempt to do somet ing about. We fer- vently hope that you will not feel the need to use the rash, destructive measures some peocple will tell you are nee ed. Our Republic re- quires the constant efforts of all its citizens, young and old, to modify it through legal channels, such that it remains a vital, healthy environment in which you may feel free to bring forth the offspring which will in their turn inherit the world your generation shall leave behind. May life be especially pleas- ant and satisfying to you as you make your way t rough the world which is your e- gacy. May God glrant that the wisdom which as accumu- lated within you during your elementary and high school life shall be sufficient to direct your path in life such that your Alma Mater will look with pride upon its graduates. For the first time in over ten years, Greenwood Central School hosted two Latin American exchange students, Uriel Carras- quilla and Jorge Pilucker. Uriel Carrasquilla, a I6 year-old, blue-eyed, honey-haired sen- ior and all-around athlete, came to us from Managua, Nica- ragua on December ll, 1971. Although not fluent in English, Uriel soon became one of the gang. When we had finally mastered our bi-lingual, sign language system of communication with Uriel, George, our other ex- change student, arrived. Jorge Pilucker, a 15 year-old, dark-haired Junior from Lima, Peru came on December 28. Everyone was prepared to bridge the communication gap, but to our surprise and relief, Jorge's English was excellent. Naturally, this helped him to participate more in every aspect of our lives. His contribution to the Eng- lish Ecology assisnment made us realize that our concern with conservation is shared by foreign students also. Uriel and Jorge came to our school and our community to im- prove their English and learn our way of life. Our school of- ered them the experience of our academic and athletic cur- riculumg the host families, the DeTines and the Pritchards plus all the other families who graciously entertained Uriel and Jorge gave them the experience of participating in our Ameri- can way of life. The exchanfge was fruitful for us too. We learned that no one is ai stranger i we try to communicate and that there are no bar- riers to communication if our interest is great enough. We wish Uriel and Jorge well. May they return to their respec- tive countries as our very best goodwill ambassadors. Adios y Buena Suerte! activities S. Hunt, S. Dennison, E. Hanbach, B. Graves, R. We want you to know that we aptpreciate everything you have done or us this year: working at the Spaghetti Supper, helping with Magazine Sales, c aperoning our Senior Trip, and just putting up with us fwhich we know wasn't easyj. Thank you for being so cheerful and helpful throughout the year-thanks for everything! With all respect, The Senior Class class prophecy The little pizza parlor on Main Street in the metropolis of Greenwood is now owned and operated by Pappa Joy who is famous for his tasty tomato sauce. It is a cozy place where all the high school kids get together. One June day in 1982, as he is utting pepperoni on a take-out,' order, Pappa decides to hold a reunion for his class of ,72. Wits the help of townspeople he locates the addresses of all his chil- drenv. While they are writing the invitations, Pappa and his wife wonder what his homeroom stu- dents have been doing since graduation. Soon, his days become brighter not only because his business is booming, but also because the students are answering his invitations. All are coming and are pleased to know he is thinking of them. Pappa Joy, excited about the reunion, closes his shop early on the daly the students are to arrive. The class of '72 is one he will never forget. In a few ours they will al be together again. Perhaps not the noisy, impatient group he remembers, but still the same class that had brought him many smiles. At 7:00 that night, they begin to arrive. As they crowd into the little room, there is much com- motion and chatter. Everyone sits at the dinner table and talks about what he has been doing since graduation. Neil Brewster is the first to tell of his career as a pro basketball layer for the New York Knicks. The class learns of Brenda Cadyls experiences as a fashion modelifor one of the greatest designers in the country. Peggy Cornell, a supervisor at the St. James Mercy Hospital is taking advantage of her training. JoAnne Edwards, owner of the Greenwood Funeral Home, hoples no-one will take advantage of her business. Darlene Ford, the Steuben Health Official, says t at business is good and she is busy helping everyone. Bob Graves, Steuben Police Commissioner, warns all to drive safely when they leave the party. Brad Halsey now owns and manages the Greenwood Hotel, and is happy there. Ed Hanbach, a Yellowstone 'National Park ranger, says the Park,s the next best place to home. Dave Heckman, since he found he could handle a camera for the Yearbook, now hns Hollywood stars. Charlene Holt has cooked her way up to the position of Head Chef at the Mama Joya . Chris Hovey, a well-known hairdresser, invites everyone to stop in for a trim. If anyone wants to catch up with the news, Vicki Kinner, editor of the New York Times, highly rec- ommends her paper. Barb Kirk is working for the Welfare Department and asks if anyone re- members the discussions on Welfare in Senior English Class. Dean Lamphier and Don McCaffrey, heads of the Lamphier and McCafTre Milk Cooperation, announce a new line of dairy products. Theresa Meehan is still in good sliape for she runs the YWCA in Greenwood. Dana Mitchell, with his many disguises, is working with the FBI and says it is an exciting job. Steve Moore states that he is a car salesman. With his smooth talk, one of us ma buy a car before Steve is through talkirig! Maria Murphy is a secretary for Harley Holt, one ofy the most famous lawyers in the state. B' 1 O'Hargan is an artist and is working on his Masterpiece that will outdo Michelangelo's. Karen Smith, doing her own thing , plays piano for Three Dog Nightv. It is late that night before the group breaks up and says their goodbyes. Pappa Joy sighs as he watches them leave. He may now rest awhile efore he yearns again to see t e Class of '72. 41 Brenda Ellen Cady Margaret Ann Cornell 42 Neil Edward Brewster JoAnne Elaine Edwards Robert Melvin Graves Bradley Robert Halsey Darlene Anne Ford Charlene Diana Holt 44 Edward Louis Hanbach Christine K.
