Student Council Wow! What a busy year' Last year the Student Councrl acted as offrcxal hosts at the annual quadrangular track meet Nlembers greeted each bus as rt arrrxed, welcomed tts passengers and gave them general dt rectrons for their convemence Welcome srgns were posted, the track roped off, student runners for the pudges were proyrded and a loud speaker system establrshed At approxunately the same trme, the counctl admrmstered the collection of applrcatrons for school letters, and the benror letters were gnen out at graduatron and the other letters were handed out at the be grnrung of the school year 1952 53 The annual School Farr was one of the frrst brg rtems taken up by the councxl thrs year Lnder the dr rectxon of Davrd Frank, the bchool Farr was held on October 27nd Approxxmately S75 worth of prrzes were presented to the wlnmng students The next brg actr try was the annual Halloween fESIlVlI1CS which conststed of an afternoon assembly and an evenmg party Under the drrectlon of Robert Kramerlck, each class was asked to act as a commrttee rn helprng to prepare the festxyrtres In November the annual student electron for members of the student councxl resulted rn the choice of members whose names appear below The last 3CllVlfy of 1952 was helprng to plan for the Chrrstmas parties by schedulxng the use of the school krtchen for the yarrous classes and by havrng square dancrng ln the gy mnasrum Before school closes we hope to have a few Artrcles ofthe Constrtutron completed and accepted by the student body We wrll also help Nlr Thompson wrth the annual frack Nieet and collect the applxcatxons for school letters In Aprrl a group of Student Councrl members went to the drstrrct meetrng of btudent Counctls at Penn Yan, New York We are now members of the Natronal Assocratron of btudent Councrls From thrs we are getting some valuable rdeas of what other counctls are dorng and how they are gotng about doxng them OFFICERS Presulent Beverly Rermann lzce Preszdent Dayrd Frank Secretary Patncra johnson Treasurer Phyllrs Plank Reporter Darold Coddrngton Standmg L to R Robert Kramenck, Larry Rogers, Thomas Harkennder, Jeanne Cornell, Duane Mc Cormrck, Mr Thompson, Archre Kernan, Lrllran Herrtck, Kathleen O'Br1en, Marjorie Mx! At the monthly Teachers Association Meeting, the faculty picks a student of the month , if they think there is a deserving student that month. The purpose of this award is to encourage qualities which the teachers believe will make good citizens for our community and country. This award has nothing to do with scholastic achievement. The most com- mon charactcristics which we have found in the above students have been cooperation, trust, willingness to try, sportsmanship, responsibility and dependability.
