EXTRAI Read All About It EXTRAI E PEDITIO LANDS ON MARS july 20, 1973, Aberdeen, Md Offrcral proof has just been released that a group of twenty people, rncludlng the great screntrst, Dr D C Coddmg ton, have successfully made a trrp to the planet, Mars Professor Arthur M Bashbottle, head scr entrst of the Solar research lab at the Aberdeen Provrng Grounds, Md , sard early today that ex actly one month ago Dr Coddlngton and hrs crew left Nevada on the frrst trrp to outer space The expedmon was not heard from for nearly 78 hours, but contact was frnally made and the story whrch they told wrll astomsh you Dr Coddmgton s rrght hand man rs Dr D R Hovey a very astomshrng young screntrst that has been workrng bestde Dr Coddmgton every srnce they began plannrng thls trrp Thrs paper, The Chrcago Globe, was very fortunate to have a reporter aboard the Space maker , the name grven the shrp by rts crew Our reporter, Mrs john Thomas Cronan, the former Patrrcra johnson, was mvrted to go aboard the shrp on rts frrst trrp Mrs Cronan made radro contact wrth Earth yesterday and gave us the followrng story june 29 1973 We left Earth perhaps never to see rt agam and headed for Mars About 2 000 000 feet out mto space we hxt a space pocket and the passengers were shaken up a brt As we were lookxng over the destructron, we found Lyla Baker under a box of canned beans Lyla was not serrously rnjured, but her mrnor scratches and abrasrons were treated by Dr M K O Brren, a noted woman doctor Although tt actually d1dn't take long to reach Mars, to us rt seemed lrke ages But we fmally arrrved and rt was not an easy task landtng our plane on such strange terrain Our radar expert, another woman who has gone far rn her chosen fteld, was Kathleen Green Nooman Kathleen, who was employed by the Umted States Arr Force durrng World War III, deserves a great deal of the credrt for brtngmg us rn safely After we made our landrng, the frrst person to step out of our shtp onto the planet Mars was the co pllot of our shrp, Mrs Phyllrs Plank Mclntoch Phyllrs, whose husband gave hrs lrfe for hrs country, carrred on rn her husband s footsteps and has become an expert prlot We were assrsted mto our space surts by Mlss Shirley Caffery, the woman that planned and desrgned these spectacular space suxts lf rt hadn t been for Shrrley, our trrp to Mars mrght have been rmpossrble Surprrstngly enough, the planet Mars rs quxte lrke our own planet, Earth, except that there are few hrlls and not too many forests As we were explormg the land, one of our crew, Mrs Frank Button, the former Jennte Brown, our radro opera tor, drsappeared and we could fmd no srgn of her After lookrng tn varn for several hours fxnally we spotted jennre commg out of a huge hole rn the ground wtth a very astonrshed look on her face jennre had stumbled mto the hole she beckoned for us to follow her and we all drd so People on Earth Hang on to your hats What l am going to tell you wrll send you sprnnrng The creatures that lrve on Mars are several th sand years advanced above us Three thousand years ago the people on Mars were threatened by an rnvasron from the planet juptter They knew that nf they dxdn t do somethrng rn a hurry, they would all be destroyed So they began work on an underground world lt rs a complete contment tmderground This rs the reason that our scren trsts could never see any lrfe on Mars Professor Arnold Sherman stood aghast takmg rn every word that the people sard Arnold has been studyrng lrfe on Mars and was very happy to fmd out the reason for the great vacancy on Mars Professor Sherman rs now wrttrng a book on Lrfe on Mars The book wlll be publrshed as soon as we get back to Earth After the people on Mars went underground, the people on jupiter thought that the Marsrans had destroyed themselves, and the Marsrans have lrved peacefully ever srnce Our Prlot Dale Wood worth rs already making plans to take a short ,aunt over to juprter and see how thrngs are domg Dale has always been the krnd of a person that could never stay strll for long It seems that Dale always has to be domg somethrng dlfferent or he rsn t happy As an example to show you how far these peo ple are advanced beyond us, they told us that they had thoroughly tnvestxgated our planet and when we went up wrth them they could not only speak to us rn our own language but they even told us that we were from North Amerlca. These people were slrghtly frtghtened when we frrst talked to them but soon our Nurse, Mrs john D Rocketfella jr , the former Jeanne Cornell, won their confidence and she also amused them wrth her amateur magrcran tucks that she learned from her husband le' Perhaps the mogt important person on the trrp and perhaps the least glorrfred IS our record keeper, Nhss Beverly Rermann Beverly has farth fully kept all the records of the trrp to take back to Earth for further study Beverly left her yob as secretary to the Secretary of the State to take thrs trip That day when we went back to our shlp our agrrculturalrst, Eugene Baker, removed the ammals from the shxp so that we could study then reactrons to the clrmate on thrs strange planet Up untrl the present trme, no more events have taken place, although you could hardly call thrs a dull journey I shall try and make contact wrth you agam tomorrow Untrl then, adros Thrs paper, The Chtcago Globe, wrll carry all articles on this trrp by the fxrst hand SCCOUHIS of our reporter Untrl our next report remember you saw rt here frrst . 0 O - S n . o 0 ' san .ns Q . ll ll ' . . - Ou'- Q , - g o . . . . , . .
