so 19 0 ,s sl 59 ss 599 G X s Q06 58x Class History On September 2, 1941 thrrty four tmy tots bashfully came to school for the frrst trme and seated themselves rn Mtss Mullen's, now Mrs York, class Of our present fourteen members only nme of our class started to Greenwood rn 1941 Those were Lyla Baker, jenrue Brown, Shrrley Caffery, Kathleen Greene, Kathleen O'Brren, Dale Hovey, Darold Coddrngton, Dale Woodworth and Eugene Baker The other frve of our excrtrng lrttle graduaung class jomed tn the followrng years Jeanne Cornell rn the thtrd year and left us agam rn the fourth grade Arnold Sherman, Beverly Rermann and Patrrcra johnson tn the fourth year Jeanne Cornell agatn jomed us rn the srxth year, and Phyllrs Plank came m our sophomore year The ume spent rn the grades was spent learmng the dreadful fundamentals of school readrng, wrltrng and arrthmetrc l948' Begmners agam' Then we were very important people betng tn junror Hrgh School What a thrill tt was to be passrng from room to room and meettng the many teachers, new faces and new frrends At last we had grown up or at least that rs what we thought Durmg the years rn jumor Hrgh we held a Chrtstmas party, a Valenune party and a great skatmg party Freshmen at lastl' The time we have been warung for has come at last Now we could rarse money toward our Senror trrp We could at thrs time play on drfferent teams and we could be important members of clubs Our frrst projects for rarstng funds began at our annual school fart Thzs project rncluded the duck throw To help us towards success we elected Shrrley Shamptne, presrdent Arnold Slerman, vrce-presrdent Beverly Rermann, secretary and Kathleen O'Br1en, treasurer Mrs Sutton was our advrsor The year ended qurckly and qutetly and we became Sophs ' We strll remember ordermg our class rings at the begrnnrng of the sophomore year Durmg the year we selected maroon and whrte as our class colors and the carnatron as our class flower At the begmrung of the year we selected the follow mg offrcers Prestdent, Arnold Sxerman Vtce-Presrdent, Corrnne Hyland Secre- tary, Shxrley Caffery Treasurer, Patrtcxa johnson, and Mrss june Hosktns, now Mrs Rollins, as our advtsor Along wtth becommg junrors we recerved our class rrngs and greater pnvrleges for rarsrng funds for our Semor trrp We took advantage of thrs by holdtng bake sales and havmg Luckner's Magrctans After the sentors left on thetr trtp, we took over the candy sales and sellrng refreshments We also sold cards and statronery To gutde us through thts year we selected Arnold Sherman for presrdent, Corrnne Hyland as vxce-presrdent, Patrrcxa johnson for treasurer and Shirley Caffery for secretary Beverly Rermann was our student counctl representattve and Mrss Hoskms was our advr sor lt seems rmposstble but came September of 1952 and with rt the begmmng of our last step rn our educatron at Greenwood Early rn the year we decided to go to Washmgton, D C for our Senror trrp We were led on by the vrstons of what was to come Our mrnds were full of the many places we hoped to vrsrt, such as the Lmcoln Memortal, Luray Caverns, the Capttol and the Francxscan Monastary. On November 17 we sponsored a Harvest Dance. Also we sold magaztnes and refresh ments. At the mrddle of the year we won the Student Control Contest. Both the junrors and the Semors enjoyed the annual banquet held rn May. We have all enjoyed our years with our friends rn Greenwood Central School and rt rs wlth regret that we say farewell to our Alma Mater and go on for further edu catton.
