Mr. Richard Willover IIEIJIIIX-1TII1N To Coach Willover, we dedicate this 1951 TRIPLE TEH- HACE as an expression of our devotion for a teacher who has done so much to promote physical education, leadership and sportsmanship. p ' In 1948, Greenwood had the best basketball team in its history. The coach led his team to the semi-final play-off game for the championship of Section V of the State Athletic Association. Those who have eamed coveted places in Mr. Willover's Leadership Club by assuming responsibilities in handling young- er boys and girls have gained invaluable practical experience. Let me but live my life from year to year with forward face and unreluctant soul5 not hurrying to, nor turning from the goal5 not mourning for the things that disappear in the dim past, nor holding back in fear from what the future veils5 but with a whole and happy heart that pays its toll to Youth and Age, and travels on with cheer. So let the way wind up the hill or down, o'er rough or smooth, the joumey will be jopfg still seeking what l sought when but a boy, new riendships, high ad- venture, and a crown, my heart will keep the courage of the quest, and hope the road's last turn will be the best. In the class we started with we find five of the present fourteen seniors. They were Beatrice Freeland, Suzanne Hyland, Paddy Shirley, ,Ianet Lamphier and Emmett Ersley. Doris Banks joined us in our fifth year. The year went by and we went back to school and found Alyce Reimann, Nina Saunders, Leon McNeill and Albert Faulkner. Our class was getting larger each year. Our seventh year we were in junior High School moving about with the High School. That year we found Eugertha Houghtaling from Rexville. ' In our ninth year the chief thought was' when and how to acquire enough money to finance our trip to Washington and our first venture was a Pie Plant Pete and Harmonica joe program. We tumed most of the money over to help buy an electric score board for our gymnasium. Raymond Doty joined us. Nothing much exciting happened in our Sophomore year except ordering our class rings and picking our class color, green and white, flower, red and white roses and our motto, There is no knowledge that is not power . Albert Faulkner left us and the year had passed. Our third year high school class assembled with brand new class rings and we had another new member, Betty Coates, from Knoxville, Pennsylvania and Albert Faulkner had retumed. We presented our first play, Danger, Willie at Work . We had the Junior and Senior Banquet. As seniors we began the twelfth and final year of our scholastic career in September of 1950. Hans Plmdt from Germany became the fourteenth and last member of the class. We organized in September and chose as President, Leon McNeillg Vice-President, Emmett Ersleyg Treasurer, Nina Saunders, Social Chair- man, Suzanne Hyland and Secretary, Janet Lamphier. Mr. Love was entrusted with the task of advising. We had a play November 17th, ln Again, Out Again . We held a spaghetti supper December 7th and a Chirstmas Dance December 21st. During our four years of high school many came and left us. They were: Joyce Cummings, Rachel Wing, Anna Guild, Robert Bailey, Robert Mills, ,lean Hovey, Vera Heckman and Billie Lemmon. We hope that this brief history may be kept for at least a short time in our memories. Although we hate to leave our classmates, we will always cherish the memory of them and happy times at Greenwood Central School. 12 KN Reaixn L-li ,iii ,.,.....h C5 ,,NfNE .ASG EKPG C5 TER HLA ML Elp TNH CGY Cf Un a'ef'5!az55m en M -QFQW UNIUH CL SS L ouise Lounsberry P resident Marlene Waters Vic e-P resident C atherine Grumley Treasurer Janice Plank SCCTCMU Mr. Tennant A dvisor Seated: Catherine Grumley, Janice Plank, Patricia Harkenrider, Joan Holt, Delores Osmin, Marlene Waters, Veronica Smith.
