The first money making pr nect of the year was an Old Fashioned Dance under the direction of our own Frances Roberto which was most successful Imme drately following this dance 1 cake sale was held by our class This was not a large success but after all even the best of us have our bad moments lncxdentally it seems to me our class invested tn a generous supply of G H S emblems banners stickers c1ps and 1ll sorts of good ies It is sufficient to say that they did not sell like hot cakes nor hke cold cakes for that matter It must have been a bad year for school spirit However it wasn t long before we came to one of the high spots of the year the Girl Boy Basketball Game Although not extremely orlgmal it was, to say the least hilartous, enjoyable and profitable A great deal of credit for this success should go to the krds in charge ack Newton and Sandra Fraser In February we sponsored the N Y U Glee Club in a concert at the hr gh school The Glee Club did their part beautifully but the receipts didnt measure up to the performance However, rn the poised and controlled manner that characterized our behavior as umors, we took this in our stride ust as we expected something gay turned up to divert our attention from the state of our treasury which in this instance happened to be the electron of a large number of our class to the N ttional Honor So xmmy Wagner Beth Montgomery Paul Delage Fred Iackson, and Michael V1UghH Qwhose continued high marks won htm a Ford scholarship to Columbia Uni versity at the end of his junior yearj Our class was also well represented in other fields such as art We had rn our midst such talent as oe Ur1tta, Pete Allard and Andy Poll lfd all of whom eventually won the honor of being elected to the Na tional Art Honor Society, an organization which con tributes a great deal of invaluable maternl to the school And perhaps the one thing that a number of our class will always associate with the closlng of our junior year is an old signpost that reads No Golfing Thus having been exposed to the facts of life CG H S style5 the class of 57 prepared for a riotous senior year But before we begin this final chapter I think it only proper to give a little credit to the more athletic minded members of our class Certainly no one will ever forget the football playing of Mackaul Vitterrto and Decker Nor will the memory of our cheerleaders led by such talented personalities as Kay Wxlster Pat Pratley and Sandra Fraser be easily erased from our happy recol lect1ons of the sporting events at G H S In other sports, too honors were heaped upon our class, our school, and such individuals as George Brown, for his out standing work on the soccer team and Waide Howley, who showed his specn 11 mettle in more than one sport And then there was our fine tennis team led by Harry Twiss, Ned Wilmot, and Dick L well how much can you expect from one class' To get bick to the senior year it got off with a bang when our class electrons brought to power George H1m1lton, Presxdent P1ul Delage, Vice President, Pat Hyl Secretary and lx1thleen Barrhk Treasurer After this Qbefore rt, too our class always had a knack for fully celebrating every possible occasionj were many gay festrvitres including a musical assembly which dis played a variety of odd and ancient instruments and an odd and ancient mm who played them It was quite an experience And of course we had a Sadie Hawkins Dance It says here that rt was successful and didn t cost much These facts often go hand in hand Then from out of the blue came the one thtng in our lives that could top dear old Freshman Night e Senior Vaudeville And what a Vaudeville it was Typically we got off to a relaxed start that drove our advisors rather mad but then just IS typically we whipped ourselves into first class activity If there was show certainly cleared up that matter Imagine having on one program such t1lent as Richard Kriskey CD1rec torj Emerson Brown and Harry Nordberg CMC sl Frances Roberto Walter Horne Richard Wiggins our own jazz band Cwith such outstanding performers as Martin Valentine and Iohn Phelpsl plus a large sec tton of the Senior Chorus If the right talent scouts had been in the lLlLll6I'lC6 there wo11ld have been a great improvement 1n television shows by this time' Of course we cant forget our theme which was nothing less than a stroke of genius The Thruway' F1n1lly as rs usually the c1se at the end of most senior years we graduate And after this parting of the w ays the best we can hope for is an occasional meeting at one of the many glittering social clubs in and aro11nd fmostly aroundl Greenwich Now, as I sit here filled Llp with nostalgia falso some other fine things equally warmingl a great wave of relief and accomplishment and pride sweeps over me And now, all rhir rem uns is for the class of 1957 to go on alone, and prove mdn ndu 1lly whit we have proved collective ly that we are indeed a Class of Distinction' - 1 1 . . . , i.
