ber of the more enterpr1s1ng members of our class were chosen to grace the Nat1onal Honor SOCICIY and from them Norman Ge1s was elected Pres1dent Barbara Ham1lton V1ce Pres1dent Dorothy Kr1stoph Secre tary and Dorothy Thompson Treasurer By th1s t1me we were also well represented nn the field of art by Carol Pankowsky B111 Sopocn Lee Lorenz and Dor othy Lamkm all of whom were elected to the Nat1onal Art Honor Soc1ety and who have made 1nvaluable contr1bur1ons 1n costume des1gn stage scenery poster and program des1gns and draw1ngs and layout for THB GREEN WITCH and THE COMPASS Of course no jumor year IS complete wrthout a cake sale-at least ours wasn t-or more to the po1nt we never tr1ed lt w1thout one It was qu1te a success However the real h1gh spot of the year was the Jumor Prom All cred1t for the success of th1s dance goes to class pres1dent Frank Morehouse and to Frances McEachern and B111 Sopocn who superv1sed the gym decorat1ons Musrc was furn1shed by johnny Hone and hrs all star aggregat1on By now our class was beg1nn1ng to dom1nate the Fred Marr and Edd1e Fox 1n cross country Charles Chnappetta Ronme Abbott and Tut Luvara 1n football heaped glory upon the1r class the1r school and them selves Inc1t1ng these heroes to further mayhem were our 1rrepress1ble cheerleaders character1zed by such personalmes as Noreen Kohut Peggy Mann Dulcy Sandreuter Beverly Ross Frances McEachern and RIS IOIIZ CObec1J Cec1 Our lead1ng racqueteers at IhlS t1me were Frank Morehouse Rrchard Summers and Ph1l Ham1lton In basketball Chif Cross Ronnle Abbott and Charles Ch1appetta establ1shed the1r sk1ll and prowess So much for sports and the Junror year and on to the really b1g t1me-our sen1or year It IS 1nterest1ng to note now w1th our newly atta1ned ma1or1ty our per cept1ons became more acute For 1nstance I can recall how we as 1un1ors felt vastly super1or to our pre decessors for the1r seem1ng lack of 1n1t1at1ve 1n any field Now that we are sen1ors and possessed of a new and more tolerant perspect1ve lt seems only fa1r to set forth the sen1or s1de of th1s d1spute 1f mdeed there IS a d1spute I am afra1d that there w1ll be a few among you who feel that I am bu1ld1ng walls only to tear them down anyway my pomt IS that sen1ors are a humbled lot w1th a terr1fic amount of work to do 1n and around the currlculum and they are too t1red to argue Wlth you about If And so am I However be th1s as lf may the sen1or class has contnbuted a large amount of goods and servrces to Greenw1ch H1gh School as a whole As a case rn pomt take th1s year book Its pro duct1on IS the result of the fus1on of a w1de Vaflefy of 1nd1v1dual talents and ab1l1t1es The staff of the Green W1tch IS also largely dom1nated by sen1ors w1th Barry Morley as ed1tor a1ded and abbetted by Barbara Drummond Dan Resn1ck Clarke Russ John Dodd and Carol Pankowsky And thats not all We have athletes of all SIZES shapes and mental capac1t1es We have tap dancers chanteuses Cor IS It chant119J ballet dancers pmg pong w1zards lounge l1zards embryo E1nste1ns tenms aces under developed shutter bugs w1th over dosed egos cookmg experts typ1ng champs h1ke takers bxrd watchers star gazers And what a1n t we got? We a1n t got dames Th1s last remark IS added more for the lyr1c qualrty lf lends to the PICCC than for any truth lf m1ght enta1l though To these 1nd1v1dual jobs of work and accompl1sh ments we can proudly add our group ach1evements We managed to secure for the school bESldCS an CHV1 able reputatron for scho1arsh1p talent and modesty a line Ste1nway p1ano a Sadle Hawk1ns Dance and a Sen1or Prom and a Sen1or Band and a SCUIOI Vaudev1lle-wh1ch even the grudgmg unclassmen found super1or enterta1n1ng superb h1lar1ous magmficent to quote a few of the raves overheard 111 the boys second floor lavatory I could go on and on enumerat1ng the wxstful wonders of our four years at GICCHW1Ch H1gh but I have some homework I better do or Ill be enumerat1ng these wonders from a summer school cha1n gang To sum up-we graduate And what more approp rrate cl1max to our four years of h1gh school could one ask for?
