January Class History The shades of two graduates of the Class of January '41 silently glided through the imposing doors of G.H.S. Although the ticket oflice on the right was closed, they could visualize Mr. Morgan peering out at tardy students. The bulletin board displayed that lone woolen glove as yet unclaimed, and yesterday's menu hung limply, 'supported by a single tack. Satisfied that nothing had changed, the phantoms as' cended to the third floor, their former abode. They noticed an old locker hanging on one rusty hinge in a woefbegone manner. Inside was a loose-leaf notebook, mottled and musty :with age. Why, it contains all the data of the class of '4l! Look, this faded writing seems familiar! exclaimed one, brushing the accumulated dust from the yellowed pages. Our feats as freshmen are recorded on the first page. Well, we were rather unimposing at first, but Paul Martin, Beverly Smith, Mary Martin, and Mary Murdoch joined the Freshman Glee Club, and George Butter and John Steeves be' came members of the band. Lou Feldman, our great football star, began his career as a member of the freshman team. Let's look at the sophomore year when we were just starting to lose our inf feriority complex. You remember, we presented three Caney Creek plays which were written by Josephine Bologna, Donna Larrabee, and Helen Kirhoffer. Adeline Glionna, Dot Nickerson, and Beverly Smith showed their acting ability and soon appeared in major productions. Dell Davison scored a direct hit in 'Arms and the Man'! In the fall Adeline and Dot had small but forceful parts in 'Stage Door'. Here's the list of class officers: Gordon Hale was presidentg Don Kullander, vice presif dent, and Edna Myder, secretary: We can't turn the page without mentioning the operetta 'My Maryland', for Beverly Smith and Dell Davison played important roles and Mary Murdoch was in the chorus. We haven't much time left. Let's see what happened in the third year. Oh, yes, Madeline Chmielowiec, Betty Jane Kinzel, Katherine Clarke, Marie Wanamaker, Evangeline Crombie, Anne Meyer, Concetta Morganti, and Josephine Bologna were active in sports. Dell Davison was superb in both 'Pride and Prejudice' and 'You Can't Take It With Youf There's no doubt about it, Dell was the Class Actress. Our two leading male singers, Beverly Smith and Paul Martin, starred in 'H.M.S. Pinaforef Now we'll see our past glories as Seniors. Here, you read for awhile, even a ghost's throat gets hoarse. Righto. The class oiiicers that year were Bob McKinley, president, Don Kulf lander, vice president, Adeline Glionna, secretaryg and John Morrison, treasurer. Donna Larrabee was president of the Debating Club, and Helen Kirhoffer was editor of the 'Witch' with John Steevcs as exchange editor. Adeline Glionna and Dot Nickerson became stars in 'If I Were King'. Addie again had the lead in 'What A Life', ably supported by Bev Smith and Dell Davison. Remember how delighted we were to learn that Mr. Bella was to be our new principal? I'll never forget that! The impressive list of our illustrious classmates in the National Honor Society was also memorable. It included: George Butter, Donna Larrabee, Vernon Abramson, Donald Kullander, Helen Kirhoffer, Adeline Glionna, Betty Jane Kinzel, Concetta Morganti, Jean Callaghan, Evangeline Crombie, Mary Martin, John Morrison, Josephine Musca, Edna Myder, Catherine Paight, Mary Murdoch, Beth Yule, Dot Nickerson, Helen Shmak, Josephine Bologna, and Bob McKinley. In football Lou Feldman, Bob McKinley, Bud Salvatore, Tom Musca, and Norman Iron were running and tackling their way to fame. Then there was the vaudeville, class day-but, time's up now. Anyway, they were four eventful years with something always going on. I tell you I wouldn't mind being back. With this remark the two wraiths returned the antiquated tome to its dusty rest' ing place, and, as silently as they had come, departed from the halls of G.I'I.S. T121 1 .
