After high school, he went on to attend Clarkson College for Me- chanical Engineering. I-le then went on to receive a BS degree in Industrial Arts at SUNY at Oswego. Later Mr. Brooks attended SUNY at Albany and Columbia University to receive his Masters degree in Guidance. Mr. Brooks first came to Greenwich in 1956 to fill the position of Industrial Arts teacher. He then left in 1958 to become the Industrial Arts teacher at Shaker High School in Newton, New York. After spending a year at Shaker, Mr. Brooks moved on to Fallsburg Central School in Fallsburg, N.Y. to become their Guidance Counselor. Mr. Brooks stayed in Fallsburg for three years and then re- turned to Greenwich in 1962 to take the position of Guidance Counselor. Since that time, Mr. Brooks has been active in the golf team, the cross country ski club, and many other school activities in addition to guiding stu- dents. He has become more than a Guidance Counselor-he has become a friend. The Class of 1983 would proudly like to dedicate their yearbook to Mr. Donald Brooks, in apprecia- tion for all the time, care, and effort he has devot- ed to us. He has helped tremendously in planning both our high school years and the years which lie ahead. M16 167600163

We would like to welcome him and wish him much success and happiness in future years. Ml? . JUEIQIQJZZT Mrs. Merrill came to Greenwich in 1961 to begin her twenty-two years of teaching here. She had previously taught at Schuy- lerville, Sauquoit Valley, Gran Gourge, and Rocksbury. Over the years Mrs. Merrill has taught hundreds of students upper level math- ematics. She has helped in making these difficult subjects a little easier to under- Mrs. Merrill retired in January, 1983-she will definitely be missed. We, the students and staff of GCS, would like to wish Mrs. Merrill all the happiness, health, and success in her future years of Mk. HUPSLHND Mr. Copeland took over for Mr. Brooks, who was on sabbatical, in January. We would like to thank him for all his help and we hope that he had an enjoyable semester.
