DEDICATICJN It is fitting that we, the class of '48, respectfully dedicate this annual to Mr. George H. Wichinan who has served in the district longer than any other teacher. He retired in September, 19:17, because of ill health. Besides being an ewcellent teacher, he was always ready to help with extra-curricular activities such as football and track. His students will always remember him as inspiring them to do their best. CLASSES President WALTER RANTALA Vice President PAUL SANTRACH Secretary - Treasurer DONNA ANDERSON A 4 The class of '48 has shown that it is one of the 'most outstanding classes that have ever graduated from Greenway. It has been high in scholastic abili- ty as shown by the large honor roll. It has participated a great deal in extra-curricular activities, showing it to be an all-around class and quite capable of bringing forth leaders to guide our nation to greater heights. The club, which meets every other week, is progressing very rapidly. At each meeting something more is taught to the individuals, such as how to take pictures, how to print pictures, how to develop, enlarging, and many other processes which are important. The club is having' a good time while learning how to make pictures. Financially, we receive our money by. selling football and basketball pictures during the year. The money that we re- ceive through this activity goes into new equipment for the club. This is a very interesting field but requires much work, as most everything worthwhile does. This organization which we maintain as a hobby may lead to a vocation for some people. Our faculty advisor is Mr. Brennan. Officers for this year are President, Francis Chuckerg Vice President, Wilfred Wisurig Secretary, Elizabeth Garerig Treasurer, Kenneth Olson. B-26 2 Back row: E. Gareri, F. Chucker, M. Root. VV. At our first pep fest we were in store for surprises, A beauty parade of all assortments and sizes, Ah yes, such beauties as Roger and David were there, The winner was David for he was the most fairg Now Roger couldn't boast, For of everything, David had the most. The Rapids game came at last, Bob, Gene, Toad, and rest were ready to surpassg A victory was all Greenway needed, For a tough game the team had heededg The Boys had shaved for the game, Swede's wiskers had made a tremendous gain. The teams battled up and down the field, But to the Rapids the Greenies didn't kneel, Only by score did the team lose, The team played like a gallant crewg They came off the field muddy and wet, But we can sincerely say they did their best. BUS fi g Un II I . I I I ,I I on The Early Bus? It's 7:15 and off I trot, To catch the bus - if it can still be caught I soon run a fast pace, To only trip and fall on my face. Up I get and start to fuss, For down the street goes my bus. Another hour to make up, I cry. And feel as if I'd rather die. To miss Social is very bad, QThe best class I ever had.J With no passing cars I get a ride, So another hour's time I must hide. I read the Sports in the morning paper Greenway team has cut a caper. VVe beat Hibbing 47-45, Which makes me glad I'm alive. The 8:15 stops near by, The driver, Hughes, asks where was I After a jolting, jarring ride, We coast into Greenway with the tide. To the principa1's office I must go, I walk quickly, then slower, then slow. Up I stride to the old dear, With a very poor excuse, I fear. No written excuse have I, So, NOT EXCUSED, he writes with a sigh Bob, this has got to stop, Or the floor with you I'l1 mop. A verbal beating I then take, A hasty exit I soon make. Then to 110 I return, For my Social, I need to learn. Well Bob, for missing the class, With me two hours you'1l have to pass. To my desk I then retreat, Wondering how the rap to beat. Well this ends my tale of woe, It's 5 o'clock - I'm free to go. Bon NJEGOVAN A Storm A bolt. of lightning, a blinding flash, And in the sky a mighty gash A slap of thunder and a boom, Which seems to shake any room. And then comes the wind-driven rain From which many people feign, And wish they were in some cozy spot, Away from the lightning so white hot. A storm is always a little scary Which keeps some people from being merry, When some people hear the rain so deep They go to bed and fall asleep, And hope the raging storm is gone When they awake at the coming of dawn. Don Anderson A carefree fellow, a twinkling eye, That's the description of the guy. A Balsam kid, a Louis fan Who's leaving for Missouri, the warmer land. Charles and he were great pals, Whether arguing over school or whispering of gals, We are all sorry to see him go ' From the land of ice and snow, He liked to argue which is no doubt, And it didn't matter what about, So, goodbye, kidg we all will miss your twinkling eye. All I can really now say Is she helped me in every way. Then there was Mr. Burich for bookkeeping, His favorite subject he was teaching. Then Miss Ward, known as June Time to leave came too soon.
