They moved part of Greenville TEC from one side of the campus to the other. They graded the site where the new Nurs- ing Building stands. Now they are grading the land for the Industrial Complex, which is to be started soon. The shovels and the scoops on these big machines pick up more than dirt. You see, GTEC stands where the city dump used to be. So these guys are uncovering bottles, tires, boxes and anything else imaginable. GTEC is literally on the move. 7 Even among 10,000 people there can be found a moment of solitude. Time out for quiet, music, the right com- panion, can help a person get through the day. lust sitting, talking, and play- ing makes a day more pleasant. Love seems to blossom under any cir- cumstances. It even occurs amid books, exams, classes, and crowds. Imagine seranading on the green, green grass of TEC among throngs and throngs of people. Yet when you're with that special one, there's no one or nothing else around. GTEC is full of life in all its shapes and sizes and forms and degrees. 8 1 - a:- .f- 3 - spawn: -...f-11,n.m-Q-,sv-.-,aft -2.1.1 wumwfn-,.ua:fi.Q-1.-, --.....,fi.,.-:-r-,tw . :N mi 4, ! The contribu- tions and dedication of Mrs. Grace Rhodes will live on through the Prescription Center established in her honor by the Continuing Adult Education Division. Dr. Barton and Mrs. Hall were two of the speakers at the May 1 dedication cere- mony. Also taking part were Mrs. Chaun- cey H. Boldridge, sister of the late Mrs. Rhodesp Mrs. Rosemary Cothran, an in- structorg and Mrs. Ann Chapman, a former student of Mrs. Rhodes. The Prescription Center is a self-paced lab equipped with audio-visuals, printed materials and instructors. Students work- ing toward a General Equivalency Di- ploma or upgrading are evaluated then a prescription is written for the areas they need to study and they fill their prescription in the Grace Rhodes Pre- scription Center. i 4..- if N 33 Graduation 1974 The Largest Yet Caps, gowns, congratulations, degrees, and a seven foot speaker are impressed in the minds of Greenville TEC's 1974 Graduates. Mr. Soloman W. Walker of Pilgrim Life Insurance Company was the guest speaker. Dr. Barton and Mr. Mulkey con- ferred more than 1200 degrees, diplomas and certificates. Graduation ceremonies for Greenville TEC students are much like most other colleges. But the work behind the scenes, the types of degrees, and the variety of students is what makes a GTEC Gradua- tion unique. People of all ages from more than fifty different fields walked across the stage at Memorial Auditorium August 29. Gradua- tion at Greenville Technical College is something special, because the people are special. 34 as X X X gs ,. - ' 5 SE, W K? X b S 9 if ' xxx X , K 'V . , T Q. 59 gs X - 5 , . fails? We witnessed the ground breaking and watched the building progress. We looked on as they placed the name on the side of the building and helped move in. And now finally we have participated in the dedica- tion of the Nursing Education Building. Now there's room for all the needed equipment, the technique practice, and all the many students we are training. Mrs. Garrison's dream has been realized, Dr. Barton's promise has materialized and the students' hope is answered. 381 CGNSTRU CTIO CAN OFFICIALLY BEGI Greenville TEC is growing so fast the walls are fairly bursting and the Industrial Divi- sion is the fastest grower. Now we have broken ground and construction is start- ing on the Industrial Complex. The build- ings will house all the industrial and trans- portation courses. lt's impressive to see the ground broken and know that soon it will be covered by buildings full of equipment, classes and people. it-2' :O si-3' :H Q srlgxjx 382 ,fa ' We Q., ,Q I U X. , irq' 059.5 5 ' E53-v i 3 n Q , i A , , 4 5' , A 4 .-I Z .4 4,- I W ? ibm Ill 11xW,,N,.f2Q I Wx ' x ' I A , Q.. ,Q f x 1 J gm A z ' 2?
