Mrs. Skellie has taken time to show a special concern for all of her students and has demon- strated her belief in their worth as individuals. 2 'Ko X l o o-MAX fum wth' 1 lx. The enthusi- astic cheers for our teams, the concentration in classrooms, and the participation in activities, all demonstrate the pride we feel in being labeled Trojans. TROIAN ' ' 'Q . HOFFMAN B.S., Slippery Rock State College Ed.M., University of Pittsburgh Ed.D., Western Reserve University SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS CLASS OF 1969: Graduation from the Greenville Senior High School has been made possible for you because of many con- tributing factors-I don't believe you can disregard your early formative years as an Elementary student, nor can you pass over those experiences in the Junior High School when you began to branch out and de- velop other talents, it was a constant challenge for teachers to satisfy your appetite for expression. Now having completed the Senior High School program of studies, your preparation is complete. Parents, teachers, the ministerium, and peers have all helped to mold your thinking and your attitude. I hope that during your years in the public school you have learned to value the worth of others. I hope you have recognized that success is the result of personal effort and devotion to objectives. As you now enter into more mature facets of life, may you make every effort your best effort and every failure a lesson learned, but not to be repeated. On behalf of the Board of Education and myself, may I extend congratulations to each of you and best wishes in the adventure of life before you. RICHARD B. HOFFMAN Superintendent GREENVILLE AREA BOARD OF EDUCATION-FRONT ROW: Dr. Herbert G. Gebert, Vice Presidentg Dr. Richard B. NOT IN PICTURE: Dr. Robert H. Bakerg The Rev. Robert K. Naceg The Rev. George C. Reese. 1 , , CLASS OF 1969: You have much in common with Astronauts Frank Borman, James Lovell, and William Anders who rode out a six day odyssey on Apollo 8 around the Moon. While they visited our nearest neighbor, you were in a countdown at Greenville Senior High School, to start your own odyssey, with the sky and stars as your goal and you and your desire and drive as the only limi- tation in reaching these heights. On your journey through time and space I offer twelve ideas to guide you: 1. The value of time 2. The success of perseverance 3. The pleasure of working 4. The dignity of simplicity 5. The worth of character 6. The power of kindness 7. The influence of example 8. The obligation of duty 9. The wisdom of economy 10. The virtue of patience 11. The improvement of talent 12. The joy of originating May I extend to each of you my personal best wishes for a successful and rewarding career and a happy life. CARL A. SCOTT Principal THE PRINCIPAL CARL A. SCOTT B.S., Geneva College Ed.M., University of Pittsburgh SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL THE HIGH SCHOOL OFFICE-Mr. Carl Scott, Principal, Miss Sandra Beckman and Mrs. Savilla Davis, Secretaries. THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL BRUCE K. DUNHAM B.S., Slippery Rock State College M.Ed., Westminster College ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL Class of 1969: Traveling across our nation and simply viewing the scenic beauty of our landscape can be an exhilarating experience. A measure of this beauty may be ascribed to the images created by majestic mountains set against varied kinds of horizons. If you were to ascend one of these peaks, you probably would find at times that your view of the horizon would be temporarily ob- structed by various elements of nature. Yet, when you reached the peak, the vistas of that horizon would be much wider and more clearly defined. This is perhaps comparable to your personal educational experience. You have reached a level on your personal mountain climbing experience and can look out and see a new horizon. ls the horizon that you view one which is wide and clear or would you like to view it from a higher vantage point? lf so, keep climbing until you reach a vantage point that brings you the desired feeling of satisfaction and achievement. How broad and how clear are your horizons? BRUCE K. DUNHAM Assistant Principal Scheduling a club meeting. Fri 14 GUIDANCE ,,7Fr. RICHARD W. Mr. Snyder retired from coaching at the close of the 1968 football season with a most enviable record of one hundred fifty-two wins, sixty-six losses, and eleven ties. Throughout his years of coaching, his teams have produced an average of six wins per season, the highest average in the state. His Trojans also hold first place for the longest winning streak in school history, a chain of fifteen victories. Seven times under his direction, Greenville teams have missed the perfect mark by one game. The year 1967 seemed to be the magic year for Mr. Snyder as a quarter century of coaching brought his dream to reality-a 9-0 season. His dedication to Coach Snyder football and the respect given to him by all of his players are shown in Greenville High School's winning tradition. At the Iroquois lnvita- tional, the team lost to Harborcreek and bounced back to win the consolation round over Linesville, 79-78. Dave Rickert con- tributed to the win with a single-game high of 31 points. The Trojans seemed to have cold hands for the remainder of the season, as they won only two more games. Under the direction of Mr. Clelland and Mr. McClimans, our matmen once again emerged a well-rounded team. The Trojans began the year strong with high-scoring victories over Jamestown and Con- neaut Lake. The grapplers then squeezed by Franklin, 25-23, and followed with five more straight wins. Illness and injury caused shakiness in the heavier weight classes for the re- mainder of the season. After dropping three straight lopsided matches to Reynolds, Meadville, and Oil City, an inspired Greenville team came back with two upsets over Titusville and Hickory. n - i .. ' iv ,ff . Sensational sophomore Brian Raub broke the record for consecutive pins with thirteen. He also led the team with a record of 13-1 and a total of 87 team points. Jim Miller, in his first year of varsity wrestling, followed close be- hind, carrying a 10-2 record. As a team, Greenville scored 412 points while giving up only 240. At the Section Tournament, Greenville fared well, placing second to Hickory. Three GHS matmen, Dave Perrotti, Brian Flaub, and Jim Henry, finished as Section Champs. The only other losses were to Grove City and Hickory. A special delight to the Trojans was a spectacu- lar win over Reynolds, 88-62.
