WHO likes the appellation Cheshire cat? Well, I don ' t think that anyone does. But sometimes a person has to accept a name when it is bestowed upon him by his superiors. After thinking the matter over carefully, we have decided that probably this was meant as a compliment to us. Cheshire cat sounds as if it would be very humiliating, but when you come to know the cat you will find that it isn ' t so bad after all. The cat is the first cousin to the king of animals, so we must have some of the royal blood within us. As he inherited, many of the traits of his ancestors, we must be very kingly, which may be why we received such a dis- tinguished name. Being a cousin of the royal familj ' , surely we can enjoy the best at the royal court.
