OUTSTANDING SENIORS In order to build and maintain a superior school, the students themselves must put forth extra effort in academics, athletics, and extracur- ricular participation in clubs and organizations. Chosen by the faculty and senior class, the fol- lowing six seniors have put forth that effort during their four years at GHS. GREG BRUTON — Greg hopes to get a college basketball scholarship and wants to go into the field of electronics. He enjoys dancing and play- ing basketball. JUDIE GILLIS — Judie plans to get married after high school. She hopes to attend NFJC and maybe Valdosta State to prepare her for a nurs- ing career. She enjoys reading and writing poetry. GRETCHEN HAYNES — Gretchen plans to enter Dillard University and pursue a career in medi- cine. Her interests are singing, sewing, baking, taking pictures, cheering, latchhooking, and making new friends. CINDY HAMRICK — Cindy is presently enrolled at NFJC. She hopes to finish her education at FSU with a major in child care. Her hobbies include swimming, reading, and working with small children. TONYA LIVINGSTON —Tonya wants to attend a vocational school to train her for a career in elec- tronics. Her hobbies include cooking and read- ing. TIM SMITH — Tim is a part-time student at NFJC. He hopes to finish his education at FSU and go into some field of medicine. He especially likes running and reading. 28

TIMOTHY SMITH Valedictorian Tim is the son of Margaret and Donald Bailey. Tim's philosophy of life is To strive to be the best at what you like to do and to use the special qualities that every person possesses to his highest poten- tial. Along with these, friendship and cooperation with other people are needed to lead a successful life. GRETCHEN HAYNES Salutatorian Gretchen is the granddaughter of Mrs Dorothy Wilson. Her philosophy of life is as follows: First you must want to suc- ceed in order to achieve. The true and only key to life can only be found through prayer and by God's guidance. If you want to be something bad enough, you will become whatever it is only through hard work and dedication. 27
