The story told is one of sharing - ballgames, dances, homecoming, student council elections, and all the other moments we spent together. But the most important thing is learning and our learning together. We have done our best to tell the story of 1970 well, and if in years to come when this year is but a memory, our contribution to G.H.S. (the 1970 annual) helps just one of you to recapture some of the excitement and meaning this year has been filled with, our efforts will be rewarded. Dedication Me. C. A• Delp During a student's 12 years in school he has the opportunity to meet and study under a great many teachers. Sometimes a very special teacher is found who trys a little harder and gives a little more. We, the annual staff, dedicate the 1970 Pirate to such a man - Mr. L. A. Delp with our gratitude for being a fine teacher and good friend. S,V • V ! ' ADMINISTRATION Mr Wm. Wayne Boyd from the Desk of Our Principal As the years progress, you, the graduation class of 1970 will be confronted with many challenges as you grow into young adults. Throughout your school years you have learned that challenges are met, and success is achieved most often through hard work and determination. Following this, I extend my congratulations to each of you and some thoughts I hope will serve you well: (1) Take time to share your life with God. Whatever material success you may achieve is valueless without the peace which springs from faith. (2) Seek excellence in whatever you do. Consider even the smallest job a task to do well. (3) Strive to have the courage of your convictions. A man who thoughtfully defends his beliefs wins the respect of all. (4) Earn the respect of your community and all you meet through honest, just relations with your fellow man. Great is thy skill, O Builder, Thy fame shall endure for aye. ” A teacher builded a temple; She wrought with skill and care; Forming each pillar with patience. Laying each stone with prayer. None saw the unceasing effort; None know of the marvelous plan; For the temple the teacher builded Was unseen by the eyes of man. Gone is the builder’s temple; Crumbled into the dust. Pillar and groin and arches Food for consuming rust; But the temple the teacher builded Shall endure while the ages roll; For that beautiful, unseen temple Was a child's immortal soul. MR.
