,...-y 5- Working together for the first time and learning new cheers at the SMU cheerleader camp came first on the schedule of this year's cheerleaders. They received several top ratings. Football season kept the cheerleaders busy making posters, thinking up skits, and coordinating pep rallies. The mascot also had to make a run-through each week. For Homecoming the cheerleaders made an all out effort to get everyone into the mood of things. They decorated the halls from top to bottom and then decorated the gym. Each cheerleader made thirty-five hall signs, and a key chain was made for each football player. Basketball season brought on a few more pep rallies and a lot more games to go to. The cheerleaders, besides coordinating pep rallies and homecoming activities, had to attend all athletic events, all Lion Backer meetings, and all school functions. Everything they did was to promote school spirit. Mrs. Jill Baker served as sponsor. TOP: Karen Jo Byers incites enthusiasm. LEFT: Kari Stainback dances at a pep rally.
