For some it was the first time they had ever been inside GJ-l.S. The eighth grade of i946-1947 had been the first class to organize as seventh graders. The officers chosen were Gretchen Spidel, president, James Shockney, vice- president, Irene Beauty, secretary, Mary Jo Bayman, treasurer, and Dick Goodrich, re- porter. That year the class sold Frazier Wilson's book, Around the Council Fire to raise money. The seventh grade of T946-i947 followed the precedence set by the present eight graders and also elected officers. The people they chose to lead them were Mike Randall, president, Marilyn Maxwell, vice-president, Carol Keesy, secretary, Barbara Hittle, treas- urer, and Sondra McVay, reporter. An important event of Junior High School is the annual spelling contest sponsored by station Wi-HO. Preliminary contests are held in which 31 members from the seventh and eighth grade are chosen to represent G.H.S. 48 X - f 1 T I ,fa I fg?g,.'- ,SJ f X f V T il 1 L -E F S .243 L lj .
