Mgr ' ln 1939 a group of inexperienced freshmen gathered in the auditorium to elect their class officers. They used the self-nominating system, which was introduced several years ago. That year the class held a picnic instead of the usual class party. The following year these same students returned to G. H. S. a little wiser and a little more confident. The same method of self-nomination was used for the election of officers. The annual class party went South American and was a great success. ln the junior year elections were held on the party basis. The first duty of the officers was to select class rings and pins. Next on the program was the Junior play Ever Since Eve, directed by Miss Boyer. Finally the long awaited Junior- Senior Prom was held. In the fall of 1943, the seniors gathered in the auditorium to select the Annual Staff. The first money making scheme for the Annual was the drive for magazine subscriptions. With less than TOO students, all records were broken for the sale of magazine subscriptions. Next the annual play Double Exposure was pre- sented under the direction of Miss Alexander. The class officers were elected rather late in the year. Their first official act was to choose the caps and gowns. They chose blue for the boys and white for the girls. The last public performance of the class was the comedy Best Foot Forward, directed by Miss Newport. Frank Smiling Jack Fauna and Flora
