During the year the club had several special meetings including a radio play about Schubert, a Christmas Party, several plays, and a treasure hunt in May. Members kept it well stocked for the birds during the long winter. As a further service the club planted two evergreens near the front entrance to the high school building. Metal tags used to identify all trees on the campus were replaced with permanent burnt wood markers. In addition to regular monthly business meetings, members took several hikes to study nature and held a Valentine roller skating party. In general, the Student Council tried to advance a better school spirit, har- monize inter-scholastic relations, promote a more cooperative spirit between faculty and pupils, and develop a high standard of good conduct and courtesy. Q National Honor Society . . The National Honor Society is based on scholarship, character, service, and leadership. In an impressive tap chapel, the students to be honored are tapped by members of the faculty and escorted to the stage where they receive their pins and are officially made members of the society. lt is through their efforts and sincere interest in school life that the deserving students are honored with this fitting reward. O Honorary Dramatic . . The Honorary Dramatic Club is maintained for the purpose of creating interest in dramatics. The automatic appointment to the club is an honor given only to those that have taken part in one or more three act plays during their course of years at Greenville High School.
