'I'l1at is making me feel vary tine, beeause I kl.ows that it is not exery two days in the year that sueh a gorgeous fenune will view my features. Yet, on the other hand, I am wondering that perhaps she is rot thinking what I :un jabbering to he wr rth the minutes to write, and so I am being in somewhat of a t,uander, but I still continue to eontimle. Among other lads at our local lodge, we have a Mr. James. He's no relation to Jesse, although at times, I do think that perhaps they have something in common. Our Mr. James, his initial monaker being Bob, is quite a rather unbelievable char- acter. Among his various occupations, those ranking high are that of fan dancing and boxing, which talents have been proven and disproven. He also has a gift of character acting, and believe it or not, can really make the dust Ily. 'ttlreenville High also holds the honor of a corporation in its midst. Perhaps you may have heard of Baker and Hughes, Incorporated-Artists Extraordinary. These lads have done much for us on this year's Chief, which just goes to prove their widely t'amed ability, we hope. Still there are no Now I am being worried which is usually something unusual. pencil-marks on the much-watched notebook. I am thinking of asking her what is the matter, but, my gosh, such beautiful babes aren't knocking at oneis door every two days in the year, and if I am making her mad, maybe she is walking out on me: so I aln sulmising that perhaps it is best that I ramble on-so I does. Of other lassies that attend our local schooling system, it would be at least a misdemea. or, if not a felony, if we left out one so well known as Miss Mote, more popularly acknowledged as Moty. If you are to stay in Greenville for at least any short length of time, you are sure to hear of her, if not her, which is more presum- able. And I believe with that, surely enough has been said. Ah, yes! Then I must tell you of Glendale. There is quite a bit that could be said of this worthy inmate, but if you are really anxious to learn about this massive person, just inquire of him and the truth will come out soon enough-and then some. 'Our high school is also very fortunate in having a maestro in its midst. He goes by the nau.e, 'Bill,' and I'ron1 personal experience I can readily swear that Hill can swirg a very mean baton. Besides leading a band, he also tools a wicked clar- inet, and between l1in1 and a Mr. Haworth, otherwise monakered as Whitie, there is un.ch rivalry as to who can blow the hottest reed. XVhitie does all of his musical illustrations on the saxaphonef' I am now noticing that Miss Fairflax is laying her pencil and tablet on the table, and then I am seeing that she is looking me straight in the eyes, and I am finding it very dillleult to look straight in the eyes back at her, for when such a beautiful creature is looking you straight in the eye, it is about knocking you over, but l'm thinking that until she is telling me to stop, I am keeping on going, and so I does. Have you ever heard of the 'Four Houseman?' Yes, but the wrong four. The institution of which I am so ot'ten speaking has the honor of housing the original four horseman. The combination Harry, King, Snyder, and, last but not least, Replogle, will not be easily forgotten. Practically everyone of this generation will remember how they tramped down the field time and time again. Ah, that is a memory that many of the present inmates will remember. But the great gridiron game is not the only game that has its stars around here. Maybe it has been your privilege to hear of the famous Greenville IVonders. A finer net team never swished the basket. Those whose accuracy was noted, whether good or bad, were Foozy Hayes, famous pivot man for the Green XVave, and Don t'Coily Stutsman, famous for his close guarding whether on the tloor or elsewhere. Don McClain was noted for his swiftness, and it is a much questioned question between the two which should escort Ginger McGowan to tireenville's hot spots. l 111ust not forget the high school newspaper. Quite a bit could be said about its editor. Under her high position she has quite bit of con- trol and uses it to a great extent. As a writer she has quite a bit of promise. Martie has an assistant who is quite helpful at times. At least they say that Jim makes a pretty good bodyguard. On the same line as our newspaper, I must men- tion tI1e school's poet laureate, Mr. VVagner. Eugene's fame as a rhymer is very great. 1 shouldn't let you go without mentioning a few more of our most worthy mugs and dolls. lt might be your privilege sometime or others to meet the one-woman man, Pei Perry. Then we have the lighter type of flirt, examples pelopotentiary Ninety-three Ninety-four being Mills, Sehultz, Davis, Craig, and Lephart. These mugs differ from the other type in that their dealings with the dolls are not so vicious, if one might use the word. ln our elass there are quite a few people who pull down rather pleasing grades. Graee Cotter ami Glenn Harter being two who are all-around good kids besides being pretty slnart. Then there are a few other females who have rather interesting eareers. VVe have a young lady who has aequired the niekname 'I.iz.' This young doll has a very useful habit, whieh is that of writing notes. Of leourse, she is not the only person who has aequired sueh a habit. In faet, it is probably the best sort of eommunitive system that has yet been installed in the institution. There are other lads and lassies who must hide with Ilnele Sam in sending their heart arrows. Usually their boys are at eollege, but they manage to eome home every onee in a while. An example of these girls is a very eute redhead who has quite a knowledge,at least, from all out- ward appearances it so seems. Marky is another example of being true to a eollege boy. You'll know her by her 'frat' pin. .tml now as I am looking at Miss Batty, I am thinking that she is erying, beeause she is having teal's in her eyes, and I am readily wondering why. Is it being that what l am telling her is so sad, or is she thinking of someone else? I aln thinking that this is being quite a lnystery, especially as for sueh a divine looking doll that is before me, but I am also thinking that I have not told her of some of our very in- teresting teaehers, so I must proeeed, so I does. Although SUIIIK' of our students are verw interesting, we lnaintain a faeulty at our institution whieh might easily surpass the students in interesting qualities. One of our most popular instruetors is a bird named Palmer. Mr. I almer has a very drawing personality, and any time you are passing hy his room, you are sure to be finding that there is a swarm of guys and gals talking to him. Then there is our romantie historian, Mr. Phelps. Any time he is making it his faney, he ean wrap a tuba around hilnself and sing 'The Musie Goes Hound and Round,' to the delighted pleasure of his listeners. lid Stoltz is the eoaeh of whom something must be said. Ile is known to be quite a woman-hater, although the girls 'eannot be said to return the feeling. In faet many ol' them have been heard to say that lid is a snitzy dresser. l might also speak of our leading 'Show-Putter-Oner,' Mr. lirown. Ile is known to have made our musie department very musieal. Mr. XVarner, the man behind the desk, is known very mueh to be a 'Right Guy,' also. I am thinking that it is time to be mentioning the doll teachers. One of the most beautifous of our teaehers is Miss Ladd. She has managed to make artists of a surprisingly surprising number of boys. Miss Newport, besides being a teacher in linglish, is having eonneetions with many of the dramaties of the sehool. If there's anyone who ean blush beautifully, it is being Miss NVarriek, who, between blushes, teaches English. Miss Ileeter is the sehool's own buggist and wormist. Her room is crawling with frog, fish, snakes, and other oddities whieh one is not seeing so mueh in this maehine age. After I am getting done saying this, I an1 finding that Miss Fairllax is breaking down in her hanclkerehief, and she is sobbing very hard, and l am still thinking that I eannot possibly stand it any longer, so I am breaking out and saying, Say Babe, I wish you would stop sobbing. lt is making me feel rotten also, and that is one way I d0n't like to feel. Then suddenly something happens that is amazingly amazing in its suddenness. 'l'he skirt shakes her head and sobs to me the whole story. It seems that she has been enduring agonizing agony throughout my entire monologue. At the very be- ginning of my amazing tale, the beautiful doll has broken the point of her peneil, and she is not being able to write down what I have been so engrossingly telling her. 'I'his is making me ery very mueh, beeause it is paining me painfully to think that sueh a marvelous tale is to go to waste, never to be reeorded. FINIS . U ck!',f, 'V , V W Q I f x wr?
