Nelda Nix Class Speaker Graduation 1985 It wasn ' t until the graduating class of 1985 reached the actual commence¬ ment exercises that they realized that the long awaited occasion of graduation was upon them. Mr. Wilson, principal of GCHS, gave the opening welcome. The graduating class of 1985 had four speakers who delivered commencement addresses. These speakers were: Nelda Nix, class speaker, Our Dreams Can Make The Difference;” Heath Brockwell, elected by the Faculty, Setting Goals for a Brighter Tomorrow; Tamatha Briggs, Salutatorian, “Success and Hap¬ piness — Our Ultimate Attainment; and Jody Vaughan Jr., Valedictorian, Our Shared Legacy.” All four of the speakers were members of the GCHS Beta Club, Who ' s Who Among American High School Students and The National Honor Society. In addi¬ tion to the speeches, a variety of scholar¬ ships and awards were presented to sev¬ eral students. However, the best award was probably receiving their diploma which not only said the past twelve years were over, but also that a new life was just beginning.
