C. H. S. Although they lead a busy life at home, their energy and interest in our school are endless. They have been the guidingpower behind the progress we have made. Each success has been inspired by them, and each accomplishment has been endowed by them. Our. class mothers, Mrs. H. A. Allen, Mrs. H. G. Roach, Mrs. R. C. Miller, Mrs. G. A. Hyde, Mrs. H. T. Klugel, Mrs. J. H. Southall, Mrs. Woodard Lucas, Mrs. Vi. E. Short, and Mrs. W. R. Cato, have served us in many ways. Helping at our Junior Minstrel, serving at our Junior-Senior Banquet, conferring with our teachers, buying Christmas cards, helping prepare chicken muddles, and patiently waiting for students after school are only a few of the many ways in which they have helped to provide us with many hours of enjoy- ment. We, the Class ol 1959, proudly dedicate this edition of The Riparian to our parents in appreciation for their sincere service. ty 4 L t i 1 The last- minute-rush before the Our Parents and sponsors serve punch at thu Junior- Minstrel is exciting. Peggy had been a majorette for four previous years. Listen! Here comes the G. C. H. S. Band! The sound of a whistle is heard. There they are! The whistle was that of Miss Peggy Lucas who is the drum majorette this year. She is followed by the head majorette and her six marching, twirling majorettes. How gracefully they prance with their new lighted batonsl Yes, and here, now, is the rest of the band dressed in their orange and black uniforms. Each person is intent on playing his instrument and keeping in line. The music sounds just beautiful. This was the scene in Petersburg, Virginia an.. 'eldon, N. C. this Christmas. These were two of the many things the band has participated in this year. The trip to Charlottesville to the Annual Band Day was very exciting and proved to be a big success. Mrs. Moseley is the band director. Football season is an important one for any band. This goes for ours, too. The band, under the leadership of the director, Mrs. Bette Moseley, had many different and interesting routines which were presented at half time at each game. A special lighted and fire baton act was given for Homecoming. There are many plans for the future. There is the spring concert in May, and perhaps there will be another trip this year to the Apple Blossom Festival in Winchester. With the support of the Band Boosters and all those who appreciate band music, the band hopes to continue doing its best to bring the people of Greensville County good band music for parades, concerts, athletic events and community affairs.
