Row 2: Mrs. Connor P. Baird, M. Crimboli, Miss Custer. Row 3: S. Fontana, R Bozo H. Hart. The yearbook staff consisted of eight girls and two sponsors, Miss Custer and Mrs. Connor. We worked together combining many ideas: choosing the color and style of the cover, deciding the type of print, scheduling many indi- vidual and group pictures and senior portraits, and writing copy. We realized that yearbooks must change and pro- gress throughout the years. As we look back, we will remember that the long, hard hours of discussions seemed endless. Our goal has been accom- plished. We hope that when you look through the pages of this yearbook, you will recall the memorable experiences of an unforgettable year. Editors-in-chief-Fl, Bozo, L. Bit tinger. LlON'S DEN The year 1970-71 marked the initiation of a new system for The Lion's Den newspaper. lt became an elective subject with no prerequisite for Journalism I. This made the newspaper a voice for all students at Greensburg Salem. Published once a month, The Lion's Den is composed of news, editorials, features, and sports. The staff was kept busy taking pictures, opinion polls, writing and choosing stories, and reporting special activities. The Lion's Den tries to con- centrate more on school activi- ties rather than the usual social topics. Lions Den-Row 1: Mrs. Wolf, M. Carmichael, L. Collier, K. Hoff- man. Row 2: D. Stabile, N. Jill Smith will read the minutes of the previous meet- ing. The treasurer's report will be given by Steve Taylor. Old business and new business is discussed. This is an example of our Student Council at work. It has solved prob- lems, sponsored assemblies, and so- cial activities. At the beginning of each new school year, homerooms elect one student to represent them in this organization. A formal installation of officers and mem- bers is then presented to the student body. Through the efforts of its members, officers, and sponsors, Mr. Thompson and Miss Custer, the Student Council will continue to act as a connecting link for the students, faculty, and administration. Wible The sound of Hallelujah Chorus filled the auditorium as our choir sang with great enthusiasm. Such control and discipline have come through long, hard hours of practice. Participation of individual groups performing at Moun- tain View lnn has added the touch of professionalism to the choir. This professionalism has carried over to such projects as the contemporary Thanksgiving Day assembly, the Christmas Day assembly, and the fantastic performance of Music Man. As host to the County Chorus, our choir has shown other schools what it takes to be a truly great singing ensemble. SENIOR CHOIR 78 Row 1: V. Liscinsky, M. Kenney, R. Kallaugher, M. Schietroma, R. One team will come up with a winning victory while the other must fall to defeat. That is how it was at all games, including Greensburg Salem. Only they were not the team to go down. They were the victorious conquerors. From the time they ran through the hoop until the last second of the game, you could see win written on their faces, determination and skill in every play made, and faith and admiration in the fans. With the skill and speed of the team, plus the ex- cellent coaching of Mr. Becker and Mr. Snodgrass, Greensburg Salem was the winning team. Sit tight, boys, you are next! D. Taylor, M. Thomas, B. We were tied for second place at 21 points. Mickey Kenney was awarded a trophy for the outstanding wrestler by the Tribune Review. His three years of wrestling shows that he is willing and determined to be right up there on the top. Two outstanding wrestlers, Mickey Kenney and Rick Bowman, were cham- pions in the Section 2 Tournament. Also, Keith McQuaide was runnerup in this event. Mickey Kenney was the only county champion Greensburg Salem had this year. He went all the way to the finals but unfortunately lost. The team had a season record of 9 wins, 2 losses, and 3 ties. JUNIORS As we walked through the doors of our school for the first time this year, with Mr. Stern as our sponsor, we were one step closer to graduation. We re- membered the past, lived the present, and looked to the future. The past was represented by that first hectic day of school, magazine sales, candy sales, and our sophomore class play. The present was represented by the open- ing of new fields of opportunity-the choice of studies and our first attempt at college boards. We had the tradi- tional selling of refreshments at the basketball games to raise money for the prom. ln January we received our long-awaited class rings. Argenta THE DREAM When the white eagle of the North is flying overhead The browns, reds and golds of autumn lie in gutter, dead. Remember then, that summer birds with wings of fire flaying Came to witness springs new hope, born of leaves decaying. Just as new life will come from death, love will come at leisure. Love of love, love of life and giving without measure Gives in return a wondrous yearn of a promise almost seen. Live hand-in-hand and together we'll stand on the threshold of a dream. Pennsylvania State University ADMINIS TRA Tl ON Most schools think that their teachers are the best, but they aren't because ours are. Each of them has an individual way of presenting 42 or 49 minutes of material to us. They try to com- municate. But it takes two. Usually they are referred to as-fac- ulty. But they are people. They are men and women who help us learn and, believe it or not, they help us mature into young adults. What do they do? Well, they teach us history, math, English, and science. They put up with our silly pranks and sometimes they even laugh with us. They give what they know and hope that we hear, because we are their goal. h ., .A It ki -,.. ' School Board-Seated: D.
