The programs were interesting, educational and entertaining. The annual Guidance Day Convocation had as its purpose this year the promotion of advanced education. Playshop staged two one-act plays and Student Council engaged sev- eral speakers. Several school organizations sponsored religious programs during the year and the speech class delivered their contest speeches before the student body. CLASS PLAY A trial resulting from the murder of Bjron Faulkner is the theme of Night of January 16th presented by the senior class of February ll, 1959. The defendant, Karen Andre, e V Q dard. Terry Mahuron portrayed the prosecuting attorney and his star witness was Mrs. Bjron Faulkner, Kathleen Williams. The play was filled with dramatic intensity which built up to a climax with a verdict of not guilty. The unique fact about the jury and the decision is that the members were chosen from the audience the night of the play and no one, not even the cast, knew what the verdict would be. 50 was played by Sharon Wamsleyg her attorney was Steve God- JR. CLASS PLAY After many years class play tradition was again installed in Greensburg High School. On December 4, 1958, the junior class presented The Late Christopher Bean, the story of a chain of events caused by a dead man 's paintings becoming famous. Doctor Hackett was played by Robert Acher and his wife, Mrs. Hackett, by Sara Ryle. Their daughters, Susan and Ada, were por- trayed by Karen Dwenger and Nancy Chew. With the leaf we are finding beauty, individuality, and creativity to enrich our lives. But always, we are searching for the one door of our own destiny--that elusive archway that beckons us to our own personal pathway to the future. And glimpses of that door may be seen at rare moments--not always during profound lectures or back-breaking labors--but during those informal, unguarded moments--a chance remark in a class, an exhilerating moment at a fatiguing rehearsal, intimate words on the stairway between classes. Oh, so many seemingly unimportant little moments that somehow all add up to school life, and the united impact of each individual search for his own door. CCHS welcomed three new teachers during the second semester. Mr. Mc- Carter replaced Mrs. Crawford in the English department, Mr. Crockett taught U. S. history and American problems in place of Mr. Ward, and Mr. Norrick replaced Mr. Block who taught American problems and psychology. MACBETH??? Shadows will obscure the faces of '59 in time, and that friendly-enemy--the future--will lead us through the door of our choice and ambition. Now--all our actions have a dynamic dimension--all things have a poignancy. There is, in fact, an intensity about the present that makes the recording of it timely and effective, and almost, paradoxically enough, unnecessary. But actually, as the time-shadow crosses the horizon span of our lives, twenty, thirty years--who knows what illumination--what remembrance may come from the pages of this book--what magic might take a forgotten fact from the darkness--and for a tiny moment retrace a memory long gone. To such a purpose--to the indelible etching of our stone-like foundations and leaf-like dreams--to the remembrance of the beginning of our search for the unfound door to all these faces that they may not be forgotten--to that end we proudly dedicate this book--the Tower Tree of 1959. 102 tara-rel Lal! 1 , f -if 5t t if 1 N 41 A UM .mid . wn1l!M!IfKi f'4?'
